CLONEDVD Patch 2.9.0.1 has Trojan Horse via AVG

My new caveat: you don't get trojans from the slysoft site. And I'll challenge the first posting of any such claim!

Oh, I don't know....AnyDVD works like a trojan. It sneaks in to your system and makes the DVD/HD DVD/BluRay device feel all safe and happy, and then BAM, no more protection. Sneaky! :D

avg has had a problem in the past with false positives on no cd and game cheats if you submit it to avg they will send you a fix

ive had the same problem a bunch of times, but never with a retail prog. always just with nocd cracks and such (im a lazy gamer, it takes too much effort to take cds in or out or to mount them on dt or alcohol :D )

I tried to be polite above. So is this confirmed now? That we have all wasted our time on a two page thread when we were dealing with a pirated update all along and that's why he had trojans? ... geez!

Most probably! My AVG has not detected any Trojans neither in 2.9.01 nor in 2.9.1.0!!

The OP has yet to explain why he didn't post a complaint on the board from whence he downloaded the "patch" about the "so called trojans".:)

Hopefully this resolution to the problem comes faster than the resolution to the compression problem from the messengers and 23. I time issue between updates really has people worried due to only getting one year of updates with CloneDVD.

No problem exists. There is no trojan when you download from Slysoft or Elby's websites. And you get free lifetime updates for Clonedvd.

Note the quote below from the Slysoft website.

When you purchase one of our products you will receive the following:

* A registration key that prevents the trial version from expiring after 21 days.
* Technical support for one year
* Free lifetime updates

You get free updates for the lifetime of the CloneDVD2 product.

There was a discussion that I took part in somewhere on this forum where the confusion of the wording on the Elaborate Bytes website was explained but I cannot locate it now. Nonetheless, it involved audio when previewing a movie within CloneDVD and the licensing to have it as part of the program. It was never added so no offset was needed to cover the licensing cost to Elaborate Bytes.

AVG Trojan

I don't use AVG. If AVG is wrong, it will remain wrong each and every time you download, unless you change a setting or until its virus definitions change.

My antivirus programs are up to date and don't warn me of anything when I download from Slysoft and ELBY.

Any file you're downloading from Slysoft's website does not contain a trojan.

Again, if you download elsewhere, you take your chances. But there's absolutely no trojan being downloaded from Slysoft's website. Period.

I'm not saying you don't have a trojan on your system, but you didn't get it from Slysoft's website.

I thought I needed to send in an update on this Posting. I did two more addtional scans using AVG, and the program did NOT find the "Trojan Horse Generic5.ZUE" again! I also did a search on the net and found nothing for this "supposed" Trojan! Webslinger you were right, it must have been a False Positive by AVG. As I previously stated, I LOVE Ebly's Software, and TRUST them 100%, AND I own two of thier programs, well paid for the rights to use them I should say. Thank you all for your help in resolving this, and hope I didn't get any feathers flustered over this. THANK YOU ALL,,,,

Everytime I have seen this problem in the past, it was because the user (or someone in their house) downloaded updates from a site other than Slysoft, but was ignorant of that fact or brazened it out that that is not the case in order to try and get some help. Buddy, I'm not saying that that is what you did, but has anyone else been at your machine lately.

Hi Whisperer,,, Nobody,,,,,, and I mean Nobody uses my machine, just two of us here, and my wife literily dosn't even know how to turn my machine on. Whlie she has her own machine that I built, she knows nothing about mine. I will say it AGAIN though,,I got the UPDATE from the link sent to me from SlySoft, and updated CLONEDVD, and my ANYDVD from those links sent to me that night, the day the updates became availible. PLEASE see my LAST Posting on this issue! Thank you for your help!

I stand corrected. I saw for the first time a CloneDVD2 version 2.9.0.1 patch. I googled CloneDVD 2.9.0.1 patch and got a volumous listing of all manner of "cracks" and "keygen" sites for this version, most notably from a series of pirate boards. The official version of CloneDVD2 ver. 2.9.0.1 was released by Slysoft in Aug of 2006.

Buy the programs and stop downloading pirated versions and you won't have near as many problems.....
I take it personally as an insult that you even THINK that I have a pirated version of this software! You don't know me, and to be honest with you, I think you have one HECK of a NERVE to insinuate that I am using a PIRATED VERSION !!! I PAID for my Lic. and own TWO of Elby's products Lic's., and think they are the GREATEST thing out there, and have recommended this software to NUMEROUS friends of mine. Give it a REST will you?

Hi,

That was Whisperer posting--not me.

I tried to be polite above. So is this confirmed now? That we have all wasted our time on a two page thread when we were dealing with a pirated update all along and that's why he had trojans? ... geez!

NOOOO,, I DONT have a PIRATED Version, and I got the UPDATES from SlySoft, and I have the LEGIT Lic.'s for TWO Elby products! Is this what people get when they try to get some HELP on something? OK, OK, I had a FALSE POSITIVE with AVG,, and brought this to light in a post. The NEXT thing I know I'm called a LIER, a CHEAT, and a THEIF! I OWN THE LIC's, I PAID FOR THEM, I asked a Question and I'm jumped on, for bringing up a problem I had with a DOWNLOAD I got from SlySoft,,, OK, it's a FALSE Positive, I know that NOW, but I didn't then, and THATS why I asked for HELP. Now everybody wants to shoot me because I asked for some advice and some help?? What the heck???

The discussion of cracks and other means of stealing software has no place on this board. :policeman:

@ Buddy

Out of curiosity did you ever make an effort to contact Grisoft Technical Support (http://www.grisoft.com) concerning this issue as I suggested 2 1/2 days ago in my #9 posting of 31st July 2007 08:54?

It doesn’t appear so. So actually this really wasn’t an important issue with you 2 1/2 days ago was it? If it wasn’t an important issue with you 2 1/2 days why are you attempting to make this an important issue now?

Regards,
Coaster
