CloneDVD Mobile crashes, select vob

Just downloaded CloneDVD and am using ANYDVD as well. I have current versions of both.

My first attempt was with "Dude, Where's My Car". Right after I selected the folder with the VOB file, it crashed. I am running Vista and I tried several options but nothing worked.

I finally tried another DVD ("Monty Python and the Holy Grail") and it worked fine. So it appears it is not a general problem with CloneDVD but something related to the DVD title as well.

Is this a common problem with this software? Is there a workaround? I haven't tried other DVDs yet but wonder if it is common that a lot of titles don't work with this.

*Update* Just tried Austin Powers and CloneDVD crashes too!

Thanks - and sorry, I forgot to ask: what region are your DVDs, so I know, which one to check.

    They all are Region 1.

Ok, this is probably an AnyDVD related problem, not CloneDVD.

    Please do the following:

    a) copy the information in AnyDVD's status window and post it here.
    b) unselect "Copy protection based on unreadable sectors" in AnyDVD's "Video DVD settings"

After doing b) will it work then?

    I will try this evening.

These titles do play on the pc with multiple dvd players though. I guess I don't understand exactly what Anydvd does if other applications can play the Dvd but CloneDvd crashes. I hope we can get this working in any case.

Thanks for your replies and I will update you tonight.

This is the basic nature of copy protections after all: of course the discs should play despite of the copy protection. But you're not supposed to be able to copy them, right?

I unchecked that and it still happened. Here is the status:

Ok, I'll try to get that disc.
Is the above status info from before or after deactivating that option in AnyDVD? (I need the before-version).

What part of Austin Powers is AUSTIN_FF_REV?

    1. Click the "default" button in Anydvd. Click "ok".

    2. Try cleaning your disc, and try Clonedvd mobile again.

    3. Right click on the red fox icon on your toolbar. Select "rip video dvd to hard disk". After Anydvd ripper has finished, try using Clonedvd mobile with the ripped folder on your harddrive.

    4. Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. With Anydvd running in the background, select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is (probably) bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

    5. a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)

    b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).

It happens with both disks also on my other drive (a Benq).
Monty Python and the Holy Grail worked fine!

Can try the other stuff tonight but I have to go to work now.

    Thanks!!!

    ***UPDATE****
I have downloaded trial versions of some other similar programs. They do not have a problem with these titles. So it appears this is not an ANYDVD or drive problem. It is something CloneDVD mobile is doing. Hope you come up with an answer!

    ***UPDATE 2****

I ripped Austin Powers to the hard drive using ANYDVD. I then tried CloneDVD Mobile and it crashed just like the hard drive.

    1. Right click on the red fox icon on your toolbar. Select "rip video dvd to hard disk". After Anydvd ripper has finished, try using Clonedvd mobile with the ripped folder on your harddrive.

    2. Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. With Anydvd running in the background, select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". I did rip it to the hard drive but CloneDVD mobile still abended. I will try the other suggestions when I get a chance.

I was able to convert the two titles that were giving me problems with two other products. So, even if there is a disk problem, the other programs were able to handle it without crashing.

Anyway, I'll post the other info when I have the info.

    Thanks.

Drag to disc is packet writing software. Uninstall it. Packet writing software is terrible and known to cause conflicts with other programs, including Slysoft software. If you want drag and drop functionality, then use dvd-ram instead, which is more stable.

Bad bad bad. Drag to disc is packet writing software. Uninstall it. Packet writing software is terrible and known to cause conflicts with other programs, including Slysoft software. If you want drag and drop functionality, then use dvd-ram instead, which is more stable.

    So . . .

    1. Uninstall Sonic Solutions' Drag to Disc packet writing program (just need to uninstall Drag to Disc). Reboot.

    2. Check your filters again to ensure the two filter entries I quoted no longer appear.

Drag-To-Disc is no longer installed on my PC. There is no Roxio/Sonic Solutions application left to uninstall. The drivers are probably leftovers from software of the past.

I tried searching for a utility that would uninstall the remnants of Drag-To-Disc. I found a Rozio zap but that nearly killed my machine. Thats when you really appreciate system restore!

In any case, nothing else has a problem with these DVDs except CloneDVD Mobile. Whatever it is doing, it does differently than any other program as this is the only program to abend.

I hope there is a CloneDVD Mobile update in the works.

I beg to differ. The drivers are still running.

    a) run imgburn
b)Go to "Tools"-->"Filter Drive Load Order"
    c) Select "Cdralw2k" and "Cdr4_xp" and select "remove selected filter" for both. Then click "ok" and reboot.

Keep in mind whatever program installed those filters will no longer function properly.

You're going to find lots of programs that are going to conflict with those filters I listed unless you remove them. It's only a matter of time.

Probably, but it's not going to resolve conflicts with drag-to-disc. I can't guarantee drag-to-disc is the issue, but there's a very good possibility. There's a reason why all the faqs all over the forum warn people to remove packet writing software before using Slysoft software.

Ok. I did that. I removed those two drivers plus pxhelp which was also a sonic solutions driver that seemed related to the other two. I rebooted my system and verfied they were no longer running.

Then I tried CloneDVD Mobile. Crash.

So I have a healthier system. But still CloneDVD Mobile problems.

    Thanks for your help!

    ****UPDATE*******
Uh Oh. I may have removed those drivers but now I am getting errors that Roxio Media Manager 9 has been removed and is corrupted when I tried to use another conversion application. It tries to reinstall but gets a mission certificate message. What now?

    ****UPDATE 2*****
The Media Manager and Roxio stuff was installed as part of the Blackberry Desktop Manager. I reinstalled that and my Roxio errors went away.
