    I get the same result as yours.
    Not sure if it could be my ASUS main board. (ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING)
    Which would be strange considering other applications can use the iGPU.
    @Ch3vr0n @DrinkLyeAndDie @Pete which main boards do you use?

    You have differentiate. "Use the iGPU" is a number of different things.
    - screen display
    - 3D rendering
    - video de-/encoding

    are three individual tasks, all using their separate drivers and even on the chip (while all is in one physical thingy), those are different logical chips.

    If you can see that other applications can hardware-encode AVC while CloneBD can't then we'll have to find out the differences.

    One such application would be ConvertXtoDVD which i use frequently!

    Maybe, maybe not. Some of these tools just use DXVA for acceleration (subset of DirectX, handling video, not quite as powerful). It's complicated.

    ConvertXtoDVD uses DXVA2 for my Intel HD Graphics 530 and likely all Intel graphics so that would explain that.

    In the end, I guess I am most confused because I could use either CUDA or QuickSync up to around February 2019 and then it just suddenly stopped working after I updated the Intel Graphics drivers and I believe back then I fixed it by dropping the driver version back to the 2018 drivers. I was using a GTX 780 at the time.

    Thanks for the explanation.

    that sounds about right timewise for me too. I'll tinker around this weekend. Even with the 32bit version. @Pete is there any way i can export my CloneBD settings through exporting a registry key so i won't have to redo everything?

    Ok, I tinkered a bit with the driver.

    Installed Version: 25.20.100.6373 (Previously Released)Date: 11/5/2018 from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28289/Legacy-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10

    Run the drone check in CloneBD:

    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneBD>drone.intel.x64.exe -supportedcodecs
    Trying 00000304 @ version 1.9
            result 0
            query -> 305
    DecodeHeader AVC-> 0
            decode init -> 0
            decode frame -> 0
    AVC encoding -> 0
    DecodeHeader VC1-> 0
            decode init -> 0
    DecodeHeader MPEG2-> 0
            decode init -> 0

    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneBD>

    And screenshot of CloneBD

    upload_2020-8-21_12-23-14.png

    All looks ok, except the HEVC portion is showing Software de- and encoding only.

    Update:

    Upgrading to Version: 25.20.100.6519 (Previously Released) Date: 1/17/2019 from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28514/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=80939

    And QuickSync no longer works.

    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneBD>drone.intel.x64.exe -supportedcodecs
    Trying 00000304 @ version 1.9
            result 0
            query -> 302
    DecodeHeader AVC-> 0
            decode init -> -3
    DecodeHeader VC1-> 0
            decode init -> -15
    DecodeHeader MPEG2-> 0
            decode init -> -15

    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneBD>

    Confirmed. Didn't even reboot after installing the legacy drivers and cloneBD instantly detected QuickSync. Everything except HEVC and MVC 3D became was hardware encoding

    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneBD>drone.intel.x64.exe -supportedcodecs
    Trying 00000304 @ version 1.9
      result 0
      query -> 305
    DecodeHeader AVC-> 0
      decode init -> 0
      decode frame -> 0
    AVC encoding -> 0
    DecodeHeader VC1-> 0
      decode init -> 0
    DecodeHeader MPEG2-> 0
      decode init -> 0
    So that just proves there's SOMETHING in the drivers that prevents CLBD from properly identifying QS support.

    Thanks to both of you for confirming this. So my observation from February 2019 still holds true. Interesting.

    Ugh, windows update pushed a newer one and the intel update assistant offers one too. Anyone remember how you can disable specific driver updates? (Running 10 Pro)

    They disables all of them from updating (including audio ones for example), not what I want. I only want to prevent the iGPU one, exactly what many oem's did/do on their laptops/prebuilts to use their outdated drivers six prefects you full using the update assistant

    I tried an even more recent one offered by the Intel driver and support assistant.

    The moment it gets installed (even without rebooting) QS support is gone.

    Out of curiosity: what happens when you run "drone.intel.exe --supportedcodecs"?
