Yea? Well it seems SlySoft continues to keep the messy floors cleaned up. I have watched Casino Royale since my archiving.. No issues... Great movie, by the way!
Yeah, two more titles that won't work with Anydvd and Shrink for full disc backups with full menus (but will of course work with Slysoft products exclusively). I just updated this sticky: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=885 Anyway, thanks for the info! I do appreciate it.
I will continue to post.... Should I open new threads each week? OR should we start one thread and I update that one thread weekly?
That really sucks. It looks like the big wigs have a good formula for now when it comes to DVD protection. After pushing the boundaries so many times (german films) and then pulling back they have arrived at this type. It's stopping people from using Shrink with AnyDVD. Sad...
New Sony garbage vs. DVDShrink Yep - Sony is outdoing themselves these days. If they put much more junk on their dvd's, the actual movies won't fit anymore. Information like this makes a person want to run right out to purchase these titles, right? Not me! For those who are determined to use DVDShrink, they will have to use RipIt4Me on titles like these until Slysoft gets a chance to make AnyDVD play nicely with DVDShrink again on Sony corrupted/polluted dvd titles. My Lite-On sata drive (SH-16A7S) refuses to even recognize titles like these are in the drive - calling the media an incompatible file format. Maybe Lite-On and Sony should compare notes soon?
You should be able to use Anydvd ripper with Shrink to produce movie only backups (without menus)--but it's still pretty annoying, yes . . .
It is sad but there are still free programs that work. I did all of the aforementioned, except Peter Pan. No problems.
I am currently using AnyDVD & DVD Shrink. I've had 4 movies recently that won't even open after AnyDVD does it's thing. Casino Royale, Open Season, Fast Food Nation, and Stranger Than Fiction. I've tried uninstalling and reintalling AnyDVD, but still won't even open the disc. All I want is the movie itself. Any suggestions? Thanks.
1. read http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=885 fully 2. If you just want the main movie, do this: Right click on Anydvd on the toolbar, and select "rip-video dvd to harddisk". After you're finished ripping you should be able to import the main movie only into Shrink (Click "reauthor" and then browse to the location of the video_ts folder. Then drag and drop the main movie over to the left).
Casino Royale in R2 I just did a full backup of Casino Royale (with menus) with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD running in the background. Here's the info. from AnyDVD: Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.1.3.3) HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B A105 00063005574CFE4106 Drive (Hardware) Region: free Media is a DVD. That's because the protection on the region 2 discs are quite a bit different than the protection on the region 1 discs.
And I did the same with ALL THE KING'S MEN! Just check it out below! I hope Sony won't read this, or next time they'll send movies to R2 with the same protections as found on R1!
That will work? My normally totally reliable combo of AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter for ISO/DVD Shrink for compressing just failed me for the first time ever on the latest Bond film, after 100's of successful rips. Thanx for the tip.
