Hello,

Long time user of Clone CD (using current version 5.3.1.4) - First Time problem

I'm am trying to create flac files from my purchased copy of a an audio cd

Offending Cd= Los Lobos-How will the wolf survive?
Label=Warner Brothers/Slash Records
Published Date=1990

I am using Vista 32 with a Pioneer DVR-312NP

This is one of those disc that will not play the audio on any PC (home, work, neighbors). I have successfully stored over 500+ audio cd's on my external hard drive using either Media Monkey, EAC, or CloneCD.

This CD stumps them all. The only thing that is unusual is that there seems to be a wider band of non-etched cd on the recording side (like about 1/4 inch)

Here is the output from Clone CD:

Device Capabilities:
Note: This information is provided by the unit, it might be inaccurate. CloneCD does not use this information!

Info on inserted Disc:
Number of sessions: 1
CD contains CD-Text: No
Size used on Disc: 345833 kBytes
Sectors: 150567
Time: 33:27:42 (Min:Sec:Fra)

Info on Session 1:
Size used in Session: 345833 kBytes
Number of Tracks: 11
Track 1: Audio, Size: 29094 kBytes
Track 2: Audio, Size: 40160 kBytes
Track 3: Audio, Size: 27959 kBytes
Track 4: Audio, Size: 32500 kBytes
Track 5: Audio, Size: 43714 kBytes
Track 6: Audio, Size: 35142 kBytes
Track 7: Audio, Size: 29813 kBytes
Track 8: Audio, Size: 28086 kBytes
Track 9: Audio, Size: 27015 kBytes
Track 10: Audio, Size: 14052 kBytes
Track 11: Audio, Size: 38293 kBytes

I thought these older CD's used to add a data track, but I don't see one.

So, here are my options:

1) Give up! Never
2) Try AnyDVD?
3) Something else?

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s The CD does play in my Home and Car- The copy that Clone CD made also plays fine in my home audio and car.

Using the Verbatims CD-r's

Using Regedit, here are my filters:

using dbpoweramp, I received the following info:

Track 0 Hidden First Track Length=62:08:15 Estimated Size = 4,149,395kb
Track 1 Don't Worry Baby Length= 335:35:29 Estimated Size = 1,454,899 kb

I've identified the problem.

Not I just need to figure out how to correct it!

can you rip the cd tracks if you choose not to rip the hidden one? (as opposed to doing the flac+cue method)

Zeratul,

No- they appear to rip- but the file contains no sound.

I do have to admit, I'm learning more about this stuff each day. I think my next step is learn about how the Cue works. I thought I read that I may have to trick the cue sheet into looking at the data prior to the start of the actual first track.

Just for laughs, I order the Asus DVD drive from Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135221

I learned that these kind of things are about both the software and hardware.

Well, the ASUS didn't work, even though I also added ANY DVD HD and told it to remove copy protection.

Any Suggestions?

A couple of other notes on my process:

1) ANYDVD HD gives me the following info:

Current Profile: CD-ROM
Media is an Audio CD
Corrected illegal TOC of Audio CD!

2) Clone CD gives me the "Try to Overburn" choice, either choice I select, I can't get a copy.

3) There are no write settings in Clone CD (Like the manual shows)-Are they gone now?

Recycle,

I only have ANYDVD HD and Clone CD. The log file I posted was from ANYDVD HD. Since I just installed ANYDVD HD last week, I will try to uninstall and re-install Clone CD (once I find my license key!)

What you posted was only an incomplete log file.

Here's one way to post the log file:

http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=45785

a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original disc in your optical drive/reader. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your system tray.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
i) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"
m) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for the mods to take a look at

No, there hidden in the profile you use.

But there is something i don't understand :
p.s The CD does play in my Home and Car- The copy that Clone CD made also plays fine in my home audio and car.

It seems that your copy works great. So what are you trying to do ? Extract each tracks ? In this case, this is not a CloneCD issue, because it doesn't remove the protection, CloneCD copies it !

Ohhh, I thought AnyDVD removed the protection (which it seems to detect). So when I made a copy with CloneCd, I would be able to extract the audio (i.e. without the protection).

Thanks for clearing it up for me though.

Ohhh, I thought AnyDVD removed the protection (which it seems to detect).

It does - on the fly. No need to "rip" or "copy". Just extract the tracks ... from the original disc.

guys,

Sorry- I got some bad intel regarding the copy I made for my car- That disc does NOT work.

James,

I still cannot extract any tracks either from CD or image made by CloneCD.

The thing that amazes me is that this Illegal TOC was put on the cd when it was manufactured in 1990! this seemed like long before the DRM issue hit most of the CD's.

So, is this a hardware/software (anydvd/cloncd) issue that may never be resolved?

Los Lobos - How Will the wolf survive TECH SUPPORT

Hello TECH SUPPORT,

I'm a long term user of AnyDVD & CLONE DVD with great successes.

I've now come across an issue with a CD and decided to try CLONE CD before purchase. Unfortunately, I was unable to copy my first disk by Los Lobos "How Will the Wolf Survive."

Below is my log file. Please advise.

Secondly, I would like to rip this CD to .wav or other (mp3) to listen to in my player (MediaMonkey). Is there a way to rip to the hard disk and convert to .mp3? If not can someone recommend a ripper that can decode the "Los Lobos" disk.

Thanks,

JimK
