Can we talk about Pop ups on this forum?

Hi :)
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I use IE 7, sometimes Opera & rarely Firefox.
I haven't had any problems with popups in months.
If not years.
All this makes me feel.................left out. :D

About 2 months ago, I starting getting 5 at a time, sometimes when I'm not even surfing the net. And, believe it or not, some of them are for p0rn sites and it shows nudity. I have 6 kids at home and would prefer them not to see obscene pop ups. Can anyone suggest a reliable pop up blocker? Kinda skeered to use one that google suggests. Would rather have one that fellow "back uppers" have tried and would recommend.

Thanks everyone.

Every browser that I am aware of has some sort of Pop-Up blocking ability. I find FF to be the most efficient.
All add on toolbars are a means for Malware and Spyware to enter your system.
Most of the problems I see come from Internet providers' install discs, Yahoo and IM type softwares
AND...as DetriotBaseball said.....If you get pop-ups when you aren't even surfing, you got malware on your system.
Usually one only gets porn popups if they visit porn sites or bad sites in general.
I would suggest disabling ALL toolbars and following Websliner's advice to run an online scan, I prefer PC Pitstop, and install AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy.
I've been using FF for several years. with no extensions, and I can't remember the last time I saw a Pop-Up.
