If I use AnyDVD 8.5.8.2, can I buy external non-friendly drive such as BP50NB40?

AnyStream is having some DRM issues currently, Netflix is not available in HD for the time being.

If you only want to backup normal BD or DVD: YES. For UHD purpose you´ll have to take a look at the suitable drives linked here: https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/guide-for-flashing-uhd-drives-for-anydvd.79023/

Yes. Since 8.5.8.2 also the official LG drives will work with AnyDVD. The most recommended slim drive is the BU40N.
You can combine it with this enclosure if you want to connect via USB.
