buring disk to disk

hello
i am using trial versions of any dvd and clone dvd but i cant seem to get it to burn from disk to disk. when i insert the dvd into dvd player it will read it then when it goes to burn it will say insert blank dvd into drive E:/ but drive E:/ is only a dvd player not a writer my drive F:/ is the dvd writer. but i cant seem to figure how to select the drive i want the dvd burner to burn with. i was also wondering if any dvd would work with roxio or nero to burn with so i dont have to buy clone dvd and if any one has suggestions on what is best to use when burning.
