Just tried backing up Season 1 Disc 5 Boston Legal using the 6.1.8.4 ripper and received the following error message:

File I/O 3 VTS_06_1.VOB 637507584 387072

Originally I tried my normal routine with DVDShrink and this bombed. Next, I tried just a straight copy to my HD (without running the ripper) and got the following error message:

Cannot copy VTS_06_1: Invalid MS-DOS function

After this, I tried using the ripper and got the message described in the first part of this post.

Has anyone seen this type of error or have any suggestions? Should I be sending the VTS_06_0.IFO file to SlySoft?

I have not tried to back up any of the other 4 discs in the season. I'll check to see if they generate the same error (wouldn't be surprised if they did).

1. a)Click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
b) Navigate to "Program Settings".
c) Click "enable logging".
d) Click "ok".
e) Put the problematic disc in your optical drive/reader.
f) Go to your My Documents folder
g) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip"
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif

i) if you don't see that icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) a small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"

2. Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. Disable Anydvd. Select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, let us know.

Just a follow up...

When I went in and set the AI scanner setting to "Deep Scan" I was able to back up all the DVD's in the 1st season (which is the only one I have at present) - even Disc 5 which was the one I was having problems with originally.

Thanks much for the suggestion to change the scanner setting webslinger.

I've had AnyDVD since July 2006 and this software totally rocks. Even if I run into the occasional snag, it seems I can always find an answer on this forum.

That's pretty weird. Can you do me a favour and recheck if "very fast" still doesn't work with these discs (might have been a fluke)?

Also, Anydvd 6.1.8.6 beta has been released. You might want to give that a try.
