Generations aside... let me see if I have this straight for the general lineup?

Celeron - Duel Core, non hyper-threading. Somehow gimped?
Pentium - Duel Core, non hyper-threading.
Core i3 - Duel Core, hyper-threading. (presents as 4 to OS)
Core i5 - Quad Core, non hyper-threading.
Core i7 - Quad Core, hyper-threading (presents as 8 to OS)

I guess my first question is how is the Celeron "gimped" as compared to the Pentium?

Nope, the current Pentium ones (Skylake and up) have hyper threading too. Dual cores get identified as quad in the os.

OK - My stuff is all Haswell (DDR3) that's why I was where I was at.
(Well the 4790K's are "Devil's Canyon" - but that's kinda BS as they smell like Haswell all the way.)

Ya I have a few Celerons, an i3, i5, and the i7 all 4th gen I think.
The other difference is the built in graphics - they get better as you go up.
