i have made over a thousand copies and suddenly i am getting bad medium error.
also when a movie does copy it will not play on my dvd player, it won, ever load
i have always used sony and have never had this problem befor

any suggestions?

Sounds like a dying burner to me.

Update your burner's firmware and use Taiyo Yuden Premium or Verbatim blank media instead (use dvd+r and change the booktype to "dvd-rom).
