Attempting to back up DVD "Oldboy" using "Rip DVD to Hard Disk". Ripping begins with message "Repairing Defective DVD Structure." At 43% completion, error message appears: "IFO Properties 6."

Attached is the log file.

Is this a damaged disk or some kind of property protection?

or some kind of property protection?

No. There's only CSS on this disc. Nothing special

Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1
Total size: 2196567 sectors (4290 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: OLDBOY
Media is not CSS protected.
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is region free.

What color is the bottom of the disc?

Wow, you've got a lot of filters gumming up your system. I'm amazed it reads anything.

Cdralw2k (system32\drivers\Cdralw2k.sys), Version: 8.0.0.212 (8.0.0.212)
Company: Sonic Solutions
Product: Drag-to-Disc
Copyright: Copyright (c) 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions
Description: CDRAL Place Holder Driver (see PxHelp)
FileVersion: 8.0.0.212
ProductVersion: 8.0.0.212

You have some packet writing junk on your system that needs to be removed.
Roxio/Sonic's Drag-to-disc should definitely be uninstalled. Packet writing software interferes with a lot of other software, not just Slysoft's If you need drag-and-drop functionality, use dvd-ram instead (with a FAT file format), which is more stable.

cdrbsdrv (system32\drivers\cdrbsdrv.sys), Version: 7.5.0.0 (7.5.0.0)
Company: B.H.A Corporation
Product: B's Recorder GOLD7
Copyright: Copyright (C) 2000-2004 B.H.A Corporation
Description: CD-ROM Filter Driver for Windows2000/xp
FileVersion: 7. 0. 0. 5
ProductVersion: 7. 5. 0. 0
PrivateBuild: 7. 5. 0. 0

B's Recorder Gold . . . I'm not positive about whether this filter may cause issues, but it's possible.

ASAPIW2k (system32\drivers\ASAPIW2k.sys), Version: 6.0.2.27 (6.0.2.0)
Company: Pinnacle Systems GmbH
Product: asapi
Copyright: (c) 1997-2003 by Pinnacle Systems GmbH
Description: ASAPI
FileVersion: 6, 0, 2, 27
ProductVersion: 6, 0, 2, 0

Used by Pinnacle Studio 9 by Pinnacle systems or VOB Computersysteme GMBH. I believe James is not fond of that filter.

hpcd2k (system32\drivers\hpcd2k.sys), Version: 5.0.2195.1 (5.0.2195.1)
Company: Windows (R) 2000 DDK provider
Product: Windows (R) 2000 DDK driver
Copyright: Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp. 1981-1999
Description: CD Filter Driver
FileVersion: 5.00.2195.1
ProductVersion: 5.00.2195.1

I've never seen this before. I don't know if can cause conflicts, but it might.

Cdr4_xp (system32\drivers\Cdr4_xp.sys), Version: 8.0.0.212 (8.0.0.212)
Company: Sonic Solutions
Product: Drag-to-Disc
Copyright: Copyright (c) 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions
Description: CDR4 CD and DVD Place Holder Driver (see PxHelp)
FileVersion: 8.0.0.212
ProductVersion: 8.0.0.212

More Sonic packet writing junk

Uninstall the software that installed those filters, and ensure the filters I listed no longer appear in your registry. If you can't figure out how to do that, then

i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "Cdralw2k". Click "Remove Selected Filter. select "CDR4_XP". Click "remove selected filter". Select "cdrbsdrv ". Click "remove selected filter". select "ASAPIW2k. Click "remove selected filter". Select "hpcd2k". Click "remove selected filter".
Click "ok".
iv) Reboot
