• AnyStream is having some DRM issues currently, Netflix is not available in HD for the time being.
Situations like this will always happen with AnyStream: streaming providers are continuously improving their countermeasures while we try to catch up, it's an ongoing cat-and-mouse game. Please be patient and don't flood our support or forum with requests, we are working on it 24/7 to get it resolved. Thank you.

Am I able to download a movie from AP, when I just rent (!) it - or do I really have to buy it?

As long as you have access to the title BEFORE you open anystream (rent or buy alike), Anystream should have access to it. What it will do however is update the titles "play" time in order to prevent "hit & run's". As in rent > download > return (unwatched)

Does the play time update imply that if downloading a rental we should do it at 1x?

No, the only implication of the time update is that a title is marked as being watched.
