It is great to see the ripper back, but how about putting in the option to be able to rip and shrink it to a dvd5 or single layer dvd.

No. Anydvd is only intended to decrypt--not compress. Try Clonedvd.
 
Heh... one of the main reasons for the new and improved AnyDVD ripper was to insure newer titles would continue to work with the venerable DVDShrink 3.2 :D

Regardless, adding compression to Anydvd is not happening nor is automatic launching of third party programs (unless it's Clonedvd or Clonecd--and even then that's unlikely to occur).
