Hi all

Due to my analytical attributes, I recently purchased 3 Region 4 DVD movies, The Heartbreak Kid, Michael Clayton, Death Proof, and decided to give AnyDVD a spin for my backups, and realised there are hardly any copy protections on these titles - is this a sign the companies are giving up?

Well, it seems to both depend on the movie and the specific region. Some discs might have insane protection in one region and literally have nothing but CSS in another.

To answer your question more specifically, no, I wouldn't take this to mean they are giving up. I do think, however, that many are more focused on getting out nice HD/BD releases with more extra content. There are still movies coming out with some harder protections but it does seem there are weeks when pretty much all the releases have nothing special.

Only the studios could really say why they are doing what they're doing. I can't even begin to wrap my mind around their actions most of the time since I find them to be illogical.

region 4

I have purchased movies region 1 and region 4 (same title), and region 1 are always more protected than region 4. I just did a back up for my kids of Alvin and the chimunks region 4 and it was a piece of cake
