AnyDVD (HD) 6.4.0.7 beta

What is a "play only" version?

In order to reduce the cost, I'm hoping that a play only version can be offered so that I can purchase licenses (at say half the price) for PCs where I only want to play the files I've created using the full version.

If THAT is your goal, then my ripping method may not best suit you. It would seem like you would be better off with removing the protection during the initial rip in that case. Then you can mount the unprotected ISO over the network to any machine you want on your network and AnyDVD is only required on the machine you rip with.

You can pretty much install Anydvd on as many computers at home as you want to--provided you are not using Anydvd on more than one computer at the exact same time.

That said, it might not be a bad idea to introduce a lower cost for those that have previously purchased Anydvd HD. Perhaps the first license would be at full price. And then each subsequent license could be offered at a reduced price.

Just an idea (I know other companies do offer something similar; you get lower pricing if you buy multiple licenses)

Thx for the info, I didn't know I could do that.

I'd still want to keep the unmodified ISOs and that would require twice as much storage. Offering add-on licenses (at a reduced cost) for using your key on multiple machines, without violating the EULA, would also solve my problem. I need the HDCP removal on some of my PCs as well.

Whoops! Thanks for the info, I didn't see any problems with the discs I tested.
Can you attach original 00000.jar file here?

Peer, what do you use to manipulate .jar/.zip archives? Did you create your own parser? Or you use some standard library, like zlib.dll or something? Or maybe some library included in Windows?

It's all self-made except for a lib that does the actual compression/deflation.
We want AnyDVD to remain a "light-weight" and that doesn't work with excessive use of bloated libraries.

Thank you James and Peer . I am trying Know

Hello,

Not sure it is the best place to post this, as the problem initially occurred with 6.4.0.0.
But it still does with this beta.

I tried to play Robocop (French Edition, zone B), and whatever choice I make, I always get stuck with the Fox panel, that says that it is a zone B Blu-ray, and that I should put it in a zone B player.

A few crazy things:
- I have both 3319a and 3730a versions of PDVD installed, and both fail.
Usually, at least one of them is able to play a capricious disc.
- With 6.4.0.0, it was seen as a zone A+C disc.
- Even a ripped copy stops at the same panel!!!

Any help will be welcome... ;)

According to your log, Region code processing is off. Switch it on (to "always ask", or click "Default").
EDIT: When AnyDVD asks, specify Region "B".

I just did so, and still no go...

I just did so, and still no go...

PowerDVD displays the message "Disc is locked to region B" with these settings & AnyDVD running? This is pretty much impossible....
What region is PowerDVD set to?

Typically that's installed by Pinnacle Studio (and possibly Windvd)

James says that filter can cause problems: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=36523&postcount=9

i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "Iviaspi". Click "Remove Selected filter". Click "ok".
iv) Reboot

Compatibility with WinDVD 9 Plus Bluray?

Not sure if this is an issue with WinDVD 9 or with AnyDVD HD's problems with BD-J with certificate:

My setup:

Hewlett Packard Pavillion Slimline s3330f (great machine for the price). It has a dual-format HD disc device (can do both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD).

I upgraded the operating system to Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. I removed all the crapware.

The machine came with a program called HP DVD Play that seems to be some stripped-down version of Cyberlink's PowerDVD software. But, for some reason, it crashes whenever I try to play a DVD or an HD-DVD. It works fine with Blu-ray discs.

I bought WinDVD 9 as soon as I saw that the AnyDVD HD betas listed "support" for the program. I did not buy PowerDVD Ultra 8.0 because they dropped HD-DVD support, and I have a few HD-DVDs.

HD DVD Play works fine with AnyDVD HD and Blu-ray discs. They all work perfectly. But WinDVD crashes or the menus don't work right at all with AnyDVD HD loaded. If I quit it, WinDVD works fine. Playing HD-DVD titles under WinDVD with AnyDVD HD loaded works too.

Not that it's a problem right now, because I have players that work with AnyDVD HD, but I wonder if what I'm experiencing is a known problem. I'd ideally like to have one program to play all formats with.

I followed your instructions, yet, after rebooting it was still a no-go.:(

I then stopped AnyDVD, and tried again.
IT WORKED, for the first time, when it would not sooner (even though PDVD was set at Region B).

I enabled AnyDVD again, and there: YES!
Finally working as it should, on both PDVD versions!!!

The "Iviaspi" filter was clearly blocking something.
Yet it took some kind of "unloading" somewhere (by stopping AnyDVD), to reinitialize the parameters for this disc.

A HUUUUUUUUGE thanks, guys, you rock!

That was a show-stopper for me as well (in addition to a few other quirks that just indicate that playback software in general for HD is not where it should be). I have no idea what the developers were thinking.

If I quit it, WinDVD works fine. Playing HD-DVD titles under WinDVD with AnyDVD HD loaded works too.

Can you give some examples of some titles so that James or someone can test please?

Also,

a) Ensure Anydvd is running.
b) Put the problematic original disc in your optical drive/reader. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
c) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
d) Select "Create Logfile"
e) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
f) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
g) Go to your My Documents folder
h) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
i) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif
(in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
j) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
k) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
l) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
m) click "upload"
n) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

Yep, so for now, since HP DVD Play crashes with HD-DVD titles I am using WinDVD for the HD-DVD discs I have, and HP DVD Play for the Blu-ray.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (purchased from Japan), region free
Harry Potter II-V (all U.S. versions), region free
Casino Royale, Region A
Planet Earth (U.S. version), region free

These either crash, or the menus are screwed up.

I'll post a couple log files. Again, these work just fine with the Cyberlink software and AnyDVD HD. But not with WinDVD when AnyDVD HD is running.

The log files and associated behavior with WinDVD and AnyDVD HD are for the following discs:

1. Planet Earth: Menus messed up.
2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Japan): Crashes after the FBI warning (WTF, why would a disc bought in Japan display a FBI warning??)
3. Casino Royale, Region A: Menus messed up.
