OK I was trying to burn a movie and when i use my nero record 2 after analyzing for about 10 seconds it says "failed to read file %s" why is that? I have had these programs for about 1 1/2 and i never had this problem before. Can someone please help me. Thank you!

Do you get the error on any other discs? You may possibly have a bad original.

This is what it says in anydvd when i put the movie in....

Then when I go to Nero Recode2 it analyzes and then an error pops up saying...

"Failed to read file %s"

I have tried to burn many movies this keeps happening. I've even retryed movies that have worked before and they don't work now. Is there any other programs that work to burn movies because I have also tried DvD shrink 3.2 and then i also got an error this is what it said....

MATSHITA drives are well known for early failure. I'm guessing a dying drive?

Well, I have a few thoughts:

1. You can try right clicking to red fox icon on your desktop and selecting "rip video-dvd to hardisk". After Anydvd is finished ripping you can then import that rip into Recode instead of trying to import the original disc.

2. Matshita (Panasonic oem) drives are notoriously bad, die easily, and suffer from region coding issue. Perhaps your drive is dying and certainly wouldn't hurt to get something other than Matshita. They are cheap junk (which is probably why some laptop companies love these drives), Click this

3. ADPU160M.sys has been flaky on some systems in the past. You may want to contact the company you bought your system from to see if they have an updated driver available on their website.

4. i. For XP with ide burners
Click this

Do what it says to do if you have XP and an ide burner/optical drive.

ii. For Vista with ide burners

Go into device manager, and check to ensure you're using standard Microsoft ide busmaster drivers.

Right click on your PCI IDE Bus Master controller, and remove it. Ensure that it also removes the driver for your DVD/CD rom. Reboot. Your system should find hardware. After your system is finished installing hardware, reboot again.

click http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=48880&postcount=20 to get a better idea of what I'm asking for if you're using Vista.

5. a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)

b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).
