Is there an activity log anywhere of what AnyDVD has done? I looked but could not find one.

The problem is, I often times set up AnyDVD to copy discs, then head off. When I come back, I often see Windows has installed updates and rebooted. Now, I have no idea if the disc copies completed successfully or failed, so I must copy them again.

It would be nice if there was an activity log showing start times, stop times, and the completition status of tasks, so if a system is rebooted, I don't have to start 45-60 minutes of copying all over again.

Would it also be an option for you to prevent Windows Update from automatically restarting your PC ?

No, no activity log. Just put the disc in and see if it plays.

Yes, this is an irresponsible move by Microsoft starting with Windows 10 - updates can't "officially" be deactivated and that thing forces itself on you.
I'm sure it has caused quite some data loss for many people....

I deactivated the update service to prevent this from happening - I activate it every now and then to manually pull updates. I like to be in control over my PC myself.

Windows 10 can be set after installing updates while restarting the computer is best for updates manually checked through windows update every day

That is a very complicated sentence and I seem to be a bit too simple to get what you're trying to say (?)

Pete I'm trying to say it's not good to leave your computer to update your computer automatically, and the better your computer is set up so that it can not automatically restart I personally with Windows 10 automatic restart experienced but if this should happen and next time I recommend after updating schedule a time to reboot and restart it manually postponed

You can't do that anymore with Windows 10. All you can do now is set a time range where windows is allowed to reboot. When updates are installed, and you're actively using the PC it won't reboot but will ask if you want to. If you're not actively using the PC, and updates were installed and it's in the set time range windows willautomatically reboot. Making the changes they did to Windows update, is the worst thing they did in my eyes. Even worse then implementing UAC and that tile based start menu in win 8(.1)

I thought I had read that the Creators Update is going to allow you more control over the updates. Windows 10 Pro versions allow you to go into Group Policy and make a few adjustments. It would still be nice to have an activity log of some sort, though.

They are making some changes with the creators update, but still not as flexible as some previous Windows versions.

Creators update will allow you to stop updates for a certain period - up to 30 days if I remember right (not on Home edition though)
You also will be able to set wired connections as metered to stop automatic downloading of updates, this was only an option for wireless connections (without a 'hack')
Also active hours for restart will be allowed to be set longer than the current 12 hour limit - now up to 18 hours.

Yes, this one of the best things about the pro edition, some users reported this not working after the anniversary update but I have all my pro PC's set to "Notify before downloading and installing any updates" and it still works great :)
