5.3.1.2 XP Compatibility testing

When I try to install VCD 5.3.1.2, I get a window that says that it has not passed MS XP compatibility testing (boy I haven't seen one of those in awhile) and when I click the 'continue anyway' button, the system immediately reboots. Upon restart, i get the 'the system has recovered from a very serious error' message and VCD has not been installed. Well, only the 'manual' and uninstall VCD buttons are in the program group. Any ideas what's going on?
