If you check out the chart, you will see that Warner Bros. does not ever put severe protections on there DVD discs. It all depends on the companies budget.

Warner (New Line) is a good company. As was Paramount / Dreamworks until they released "Blades of Glory" R1.
Maybe Paramount wants to try something new and they were tired of MacroVision.
You are comparing apples and oranges. If they use Arccos (or something similar) now and APS and/or CSS, they still have to pay fees to Macrovision.If a DVD movie has both CSS and APS it means that the disc is protected with MacroVision patent therefore, the company is paying the MacroVision fee.
