Something is really weird . . .

There's no structural protections on those discs. Other people's status screens with 28 days later and Anydvd 6.1.8.4 do not show error -1 from the A.I. scanner. In fact, there's no structural protection on either disc.

That Anydvd suddenly worked out of nowhere suggests to me that Anydvd isn't working properly on your system, the original discs are bad (but this seems unlikely if Anydvd suddenly worked), your drive is slowly dying, or some third party program is interfering with Anydvd.

O.k. You can have Alcohol 120% on your system, but I would just choose not to install the Starwindservice, unless you're into network sharing virtual drives.



as far as a third party program interfering, i've never had a problem until these 2 movies. I have not recently installed anything new, and even backed up a different movie during the time when i was having problems with these 2. At this point i'll see what nero speed comes up with, but i'll probably return the movie and get a different copy. thanks for your help

Something tells me the original disc isn't the problem here. But please do scan it for errors.

Well, someone else believes AFS2K.sys is causing the problem. That driver is know to cause a lot of issues (including crashing).

It comes with some versions of Nero and also with a lot of HP products.

You can uninstall the programs that installed that filter entry . . .

I recommend creating a registry backup before doing this:

1 a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)

b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order.

c) select AFS2K.sys. Click "Remove selected filter".

d) I would also recommend finding AFS2K.sys on your system and renaming the file at this point.

i stopped running nero speed at 50% done.

surface scan:
94.5% good
3.8% damaged
1.7% bad



so i'm gonna return it and try a new copy of it before i start doing anything else. I'm also gonna get a new drive. The one i got now is getting old, so it couldnt hurt to upgrade it anyways.
 
@antisabre, Hey I posted this back on the 4th of October and I notice your AnyDVD info reads different? Notice what I have below makes no reference to AI-Scanner? Same movie both Region 1?:confused:

AnyDVD 6.1.7.4 doesn't have the AI Scanner. That's why it is different.

Yeah, you're not using the latest version of Anydvd. And most people do not get than scanner error message regardless with this disc.

You should NOT see anything about the AI Scanner in the status window. It's not something you WANT to see. It means there's a serious problem. :)
 
Ok....I see the AI Scanner, it's set to Very Fast by default...Thanx.:agree: Still doesn't explain why it's not reference in my AnyDVD status info and mind you while statusing the same flick?:confused::doh: I guess if it caused a problem...Hey I'm fine.

I think it would be good to have some sort of info regarding what setting you are using if the AI Scanner is turned on. Might help for debugging purposes here. Just my opinion. :)

HEH. You're not the first to have that thought. :) I know someone else who'd like that just as much as you would. I don't think it's a bad idea.
 
I think I agreed to this suggestion too? Can't remember at the moment.
 
But it is highly suggested and I agree with this statement that the AI Scanner is set at default first!
 
Yeah...strangley enough a flick with no major encryption seems to hang-up? I wonder what causes this..maybe an unstable pc? NERO Recode and AnyDVD normally suffice for me unless, I run into Puppetlock or Ripguard. But as you can see none of the upcoming major releases have anything like this on them but some members here still struggle with completing back-ups? :confused:
