I am not certain if the device uses usb2.0 or usb3.0. I would guess tho that the device utitlizes the USB 3.0 version as it is compatible with the Windows 7 version, HDMI 1.4, and Wireless N connectivity. It would make more sense. I run it on a HDD that is compatible with both USB versions.
