This is an old but very good post by Frank. I began having problems with unrecognized drives, after removing several preinstalled programs to free up space, on a laptop I've used for years. The link to the Microsoft article on deleting filters worked like a charm. Thank you Frank!

I have read this thread in its entirety a couple of times, and have come to the conclusion, that what works for some with their original disk and PC, may not work for others. In my case using, 6.4.7.0 and 2.9.1.9 with menus preserved, results in a backup that goes straight to the Bonus Features...

You won't be cutting and pasting.......you will be given the oppurtunity to split the movie to the second disk at the chapter of your choice. (preferably at at point, where you end up with 2 disks, with approximatly the same amount of data on them)

Your post isn't very detailed, but seems to point to your output file being to big for the media your trying to back up to. If you are backing up to DVD-5 media (4.7gb) select DVD-5, in the drop down box and wait for the transcoding to take place. When prompted, remove the original and insert...

Sometimes the warnings are a cell within a title set that must be removed by a utility such as VobBlanker.

This method that you have suggested is a good one if you are going to do further processing with a third party proggie before compressing...... However nothing will be gained by ripping to a DVD9 file, then using CloneDVD again to remove material and compress, because all of this can be done...

Is there a significant quality bar drop, if you choose 1 & 2? If not, try selecting both.

Processing times very with the capabilities of the pc. A slower processor will result in longer overall time. Make sure that your DVD drive is operating in the DMA mode.

I would suggest disabling your internet connection, and Mcafee while making your backups. McAfee 2007 uses a lot of resourses, and your pc is not a powerhouse. (especially in the ram department) You could probably rip to hd with McAfee running, but I would definitly turn it off before burning...

Have you tried uninstalling the drive and the ide channel that its on, and letting Windows reinstall them?
