DVD Drive problem after upgrading AnyDVD

This is an old but very good post by Frank. I began having problems with unrecognized drives, after removing several preinstalled programs to free up space, on a laptop I've used for years. The link to the Microsoft article on deleting filters worked like a charm. Thank you Frank!

[Resolved] Leatherheads Region 1 Problem => use AnyDVD 6.4.7.3 beta!

 Possibly the errors on these disks aren't consistent? The only way I was able to backup this title with 6.4.7.0 & 2.9.1.9, was by not preserving menus. This method achieved a perfect movie only backup. ( post #168 ) It wasn't a PC player issue in this regard. If burnt with menus...

[Resolved] Leatherheads Region 1 Problem => use AnyDVD 6.4.7.3 beta!

Thanks for that Webslinger. I may need to find another PC player to add to the arsenal........I did root around and come up with an old PowerDVD XP disk that came bundled with a drive a few years back. It seems to be less particular about what it plays, but kind of awkward to use. I found that...

[Resolved] Leatherheads Region 1 Problem => use AnyDVD 6.4.7.3 beta!

I have read this thread in its entirety a couple of times, and have come to the conclusion, that what works for some with their original disk and PC, may not work for others. In my case using, 6.4.7.0 and 2.9.1.9 with menus preserved, results in a backup that goes straight to the Bonus Features...

    Back-up With 2 Drives??

You won't be cutting and pasting.......you will be given the oppurtunity to split the movie to the second disk at the chapter of your choice. (preferably at at point, where you end up with 2 disks, with approximatly the same amount of data on them)

    Not enought space on disk

Your post isn't very detailed, but seems to point to your output file being to big for the media your trying to back up to. If you are backing up to DVD-5 media (4.7gb) select DVD-5, in the drop down box and wait for the transcoding to take place. When prompted, remove the original and insert...

Do you have the drop down box set to DVD-5 on the title configuration page?(assuming you are using single layer disks)

    Question about Fbi Warning

I share your sediments....It's my movie, can't I watch it the way I want to? @ xCharvelx416 I agree with your assesment of applicable laws.......but as far as: quote:Society is slowing changing (here in the US) the industries views on DRM protection. The more our society wants free will...

    Question about Fbi Warning

Sometimes the warnings are a cell within a title set that must be removed by a utility such as VobBlanker.

Can I burn from DVD Reader to DVD Burner

If the original DVD and the output DVD are of the same size, (ie DVD5 to DVD5) it is possible to burn on the fly with CloneDVD, by choosing the "write exisiting data" option, and choosing the reader as the input and the burner as the output method. (I have done this sucessfully with DVD5, but...

The Vikings (Not able to copy)

@ Zycore I believe Webslinger is right on with the assessment. I cannot begin to count the times I have seen this topic on other forums over the last few years. Many times it has been a brand new disk that exhibits this behavior, and is resolved by a replacement. If you haven't already...

    Quality % in CloneDVD

This method that you have suggested is a good one if you are going to do further processing with a third party proggie before compressing...... However nothing will be gained by ripping to a DVD9 file, then using CloneDVD again to remove material and compress, because all of this can be done...

How to speed up entire copying process?

Processing times very with the capabilities of the pc. A slower processor will result in longer overall time. Make sure that your DVD drive is operating in the DMA mode.

can i let mcafee security center run in the back round?

I would suggest disabling your internet connection, and Mcafee while making your backups. McAfee 2007 uses a lot of resourses, and your pc is not a powerhouse. (especially in the ram department) You could probably rip to hd with McAfee running, but I would definitly turn it off before burning...

    Now it's dragging (HELP)

Your drive may be operating in PIO mode rather than DMA. Here is a link to help you. It says Photo Backup, but the principles are the same. Read it and make the changes if necessary. http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

Copying an ISO file to a DVD+R

I should have searched a bit previously. I stumbled onto this definition of mini-dvd at doom9, while looking for something else. Anyway, better late than never for those who didn't know. (LIKE ME!) miniDVD miniDVD is basically a DVD on a CD. A miniDVD can contain bitrates up to...
