I was able to reproduce this pretty easily. I set the download directory to c:\, started a download, and immediately got a popup saying "Could not create target path under C:/"

Restarted, rebooted, logged out and back in, downgraded to 1.2.2.0 then back to 1.2.2.2, but no luck, I get the same retrieving playlist error. If the logs above aren't enough, I'll send mine to a dev if they ask, but looks like it's pretty widespread and probably easy to reproduce.

I don't really want to wade into this, but there's a lot of misinformation here. The reason CBR is being championed over VBR has less to do with bitrates and everything to do with Amazon's own encode settings. This is the reason you see people refer to Amazon VBR 1.0 vs VBR 2.0 encode settings...

Maybe they can fix it so they're downloaded with the full language code of en-us and en-gb instead of just en or eng. The same goes for other languages like Spanish which will often have es-es for Spain and then something like es-mx for Mexico.

In File -> Settings -> Download -> Subtitles try changing "store subtitles as" to SRT if you haven't done that already.

AnyStream doesn't convert or compress, so your only option is to choose a lower resolution.

Tons of Amazon movies already have burned in subtitles and also have separate subtitle tracks, this is very common. You can test this yourself by playing the movie on the actual Amazon website and then manually turning off subtitles in the settings to see if you still see the translations on...

If you're using AnyStream with embedded MP4 subtitles you could try using the external subtitles option and then muxing them into an MKV with MKVToolNix, that should work with your device.

I really don't think VBR vs. CBR should be considered a technical aspect of how AnyStream works considering it's just an option you can choose, like 1080p vs. 720p or normal English subtitles vs. SDH subtitles. It doesn't have anything to do with the technical nature of how AnyStream functions...
