Just circling back to this. I do have My Movies, and it too is having issues reading the disc. I'll take my post over there. I did use DVDFab to copy the disk, so this has become more a curiosity problem for me.

As a small update, I disabled AnyDVD from the taskbar, and the disc does not eject. So I take back my comment, and it does appear to be AnyDVD related.
