Anydvd (RedFox) and UHD/AACS 2.0 - There is hope

IMO, if DVD-A or SACD were anywhere near Blu-ray popularity, they would have been cracked years ago.

Anydvd (RedFox) and UHD/AACS 2.0 - There is hope

Both very niche formats though, quite insignificant compared to Blu-ray. It simply did not worth the effort IMHO.

Anydvd (RedFox) and UHD/AACS 2.0 - There is hope

I trust HDDs more than optical disks. I just flipped through my old backup DVDs the other day (they were stored in a padded metal box undisturbed for years) and I couldn't read about 20% of them at all. And they were not cheap DVDs burned at 48x. However my HDDs from my Amiga 500 days (which was...

    A few thoughts about piracy

Well I'm sure "steaming" won't be an option in the near future :) Seriously though, streaming picture quality is nowhere near Blu-ray quality. I really hope that by the time physical media dies, there will be a high quality download option (riddled with a dozen layers of DRM probably that I'm...

    DVD Ripping Days Are Numbered...

Even if so, nothing forces anyone to use a CPU with that instruction set. You can always keep your old/different brand CPU.

    A few thoughts about piracy

I don't think that piracy forced the studios to make movies like this. It's just what the demand is for.

No fox, no job, no future?

They can reverse engineer AnyDVD, however that's only the client. They don't know how the server side decrypter works though. Just noticed: redfox.bz. Nice :)

No fox, no job, no future?

I'm not sure that would go well. It would create too much visibility and while it's a good thing from supporting perspective, it would probably also mean that the crowdfunding host would be bullied to terminate the project.

No fox, no job, no future?

Though a Windows version with a signed driver is the most convenient, I believe with unsigned win drivers, there would be still much more users than with RPi or any other linux versions.

No fox, no job, no future?

Driver signature enforcement can be disabled in Windows and is not hard at all (no fiddling with registry etc, just a troubleshooting option from the boot menu), so that's not a problem IMO. I'm also in for an RPi option, though. In fact I like the idea more each time I think about it :)

No fox, no job, no future?

No doubt it would be under a different brand though. SlyHard maybe? :)
