    AnyDVD Protection Database 1.0 (beta)

You're just a moderator. You're not really the right person to be claiming that Redfox produce sloppy code and don't care about wasting space in users "Program Files (x86)" with unnecessary duplicate copies of files.

    AnyDVD Protection Database 1.0 (beta)

I uninstalled "AnyDVD Protection Database 1.0 (beta)" and as I suspected, one of the sets of files disappeared. It's obviously not needed any more.

    AnyDVD Protection Database 1.0 (beta)

Why the thousands of exact duplicate files then? The nearly 3000 files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\RedFox\AnyDVDProtectionDatabase\data" exactly match the files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\RedFox\AnyDVD\bdplus".

    AnyDVD Protection Database 1.0 (beta)

Recently I noticed that there are two identical copies of what appears to be a database of some kind related to AnyDVD on my PC. Recently released versions of AnyDVD release notes say: "- New (UHD): Keys for almost 10000 UHD discs are now included." Why the duplication? Is the old "AnyDVD...

Discussion Windows 11 22H2 Update released

The whole reason for the W11 requiring newer processors than W10 is because it uses new security features in those newer processors to provide new kinds of protection against attacks. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/08/why-windows-11-has-such-strict-hardware-requirements-according-to-microsoft/

    Maximum resolution for MP4 output

DVD's are at a resolution of 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC). Upscaling without clever resolution enhancement (something similar to "Super-Resolution") would just be a waste of space. Implementing some kind of clever resolution enhancement would be a major update.

Nasty oily substance - brand new 4K blu-rays

But is that Dawn Original, Dawn Platinum, Dawn Botanicals, Dawn Free & Clear or perhaps more likely Dawn Gentle Clean or Dawn Ultra Gentle Clean?

    1080 vs 720 vs 540

I always understood: 720p is the minimum to count as HD. 1080p is the minimum to count as Full HD. 2160p is pretty much the minimum to count as UHD or 4K.

    Backup DVD skipping.

As an experiment try burning even slower. Many drives that claim to be able to write at a certain speed actually produce quite poor disks if used at that speed and need to go much slower to make the best quality disks.

new: support for cropped videos for MP4/MKV output (e.g. cinemascope height reduction)

I'd also like it if there was a way to set the cropping myself so that there is no possibility of it leaving a thin strip of black bar (or of slightly trimming the active area of the video).

new: support for cropped videos for MP4/MKV output (e.g. cinemascope height reduction)

Thanks. However it doesn't work very well. I tested with "The Hunger Games". I think it must be trying to work out where the black bars are by examining the image. There is still a narrow black bar above the video in the resulting mkv file. I think the result should be 1920x800 but it gives...

new: support for cropped videos for MP4/MKV output (e.g. cinemascope height reduction)

What's this? I can't see any way to output 1920x800 video for Blu-Ray discs consisting of 1920x1080 video with black bars top and bottom, which I would have thought is what's required.

That old question again: where is the stash^H^H^H^H^Hcache?

If you're not planning on re-scanning them you have no need for the keys. Plus AnyDVD only takes a moment or two to re-discover them when if do insert the disk. Myself, I think I have probably found the places where it's all stored, why are you incapable of finding them?

But NUL:, NUL, NUL.iso and NUL.anything all equate to the NUL: device in Windoze.

Request Amazon/Primevideo CBR video quality? [Is Essential]

But isn't it because the CBR streams are at a higher bit rate overall, or maybe because they bodge the VBR by not properly doing 2 passes when encoding VBR?

    Can't Rip Disc

Be careful. If you can't find a way to properly uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology (aka IRST) and just dive in and delete the filter driver (usually iaStorF.sys) you will make your system unbootable. There is some extensive discussion here...
