Will AS strip commercials from the limited commercial CBS channel on Prime like with IMDB or do I need to pay for the commercial free option?

thanks

you need the commercial free option ...

yeah .. AS simply downloads the stream ... it doesn't do anything to the video

Thats not entirely true. For example with titles from the commercial powered imdb tv, it downloads them commercial free. It MIGHT be able to do that from the cbs channel too, bit I'm not subscribed to that one, so can't say for sure.

A quick way to be sure would simply be to check a title in the app/website and look for the beginning of the commercial section and note the time in the stream, then download the same title in AS and jump to that same beginning and see if the commercials are there too.

I guess my plan is to start the trial with the limited commercial plan and switch to ad free if necessary.

The test may be in a while since I’ll probably go to HBO first.

I'm subscribed to it within prime, and I have no commercials in any of my content...

  • Babel 2006
  • Black Sheep 1996
  • Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts 2011
  • From Dusk Till Dawn 1996
  • Halloween H20 1998
  • Halloween Resurrection 2002
  • Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (B&W Original) 1956
  • Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events 2004
  • Minority Report 2002
  • Sin City 1 (2005) 2014
  • Spy in the Hanoi Hilton (Doc.) 2015
  • Star Trek 10 Nemesis 2002
  • Tales From The Darkside - The Movie 1990
  • Top Secret 1984
  • We Were Soldiers 2002
In fact, I've seen NO commercials for anything regardless of subscribed CHANNEL. I've tried several of them, including IMDb...

Good to know I can plan on the $5.99 plan rather than the $9.99 one.

sorry for the misinformation ...
You are completely right. AnyStream only downloads the stream without any alteration. It is up to the provider whether to include commercials as part of the stream or as a separate stream, which is played before the title when viewed in a browser.

I’m looking to do the trial and probably a month after to get everything I want. Is it confirmed limited commercials for $6/mo works without commercials in AS or should I opt for commercial free for $4/mo more?

Just wanna be sure before I sign up.

I haven’t personally tried but others say limited is fine.

in any case, with the seven day free trial, my plan is to sign up for limited and see what happens. If I need ad free for some reason, I’m sure there is an upgrade process. I just decided to do HBO first to get it before it leaves AP.

Don’t bother with the limited commercials plan. I just tried Picard and got commercials in my recording.

Of course Amazon won’t let you upgrade during the 7 day trial and if you attempt to cancel and repurchase the commercial free subscription you can’t until the 7 day trial is done.

I ended up having to call Amazon and have them cancel my free trial effective immediately then I had to purchase the commercial free subscription at the $10/mo rate without trial. Luckily the representative I got understood my frustration and gave me a $3 promotional credit for a future purchase.

As in advertising third party products, or cross-advertising other CBS shows?

The second episode had a commercial right in the beginning for some other show (The Good Fight) on CBS All Access before the CBS All Access Originals splash screen appeared when using the Limited Commercials plan.

Just tried on the commercial free subscription and same commercial so apparently it doesn’t matter if you have commercial free or not apparently.

Curious if you have the advertisement on the UK Prime download as well or if I should just use my VPN.

Worse case I’ll just edit out the advertisements if I have to using Lossless Cut.

I havent seen any with IMDB TV (such as the chicago med/fire/pd)

Yea IMDB TV I hadn’t either. I’ll just cut the advertisements out. No big deal. Now I’ve got commercial free for a month for $7 so not the end of the world.

That sounds like trailers, not commercials... ;)
