I am using AnyDVD 2.5.5.0 and CloneDVD Mobile 1.9.0.7, in two different DVD Read/Write drives. One is a Sony External DRU-830A and the other is a TSSTcorp internal TS-H653Q. I have additionally tried 1.9.0.6 witht he same result. While converting to Apple TV AVC or iPad AVC, the disc read to 98% before locking up and stalling. It will not CANCEL so that I can get a transcoder log file, or I would send it. I can get Mobile 1.2.0.1 to work, but the sync is slightly off and the vidoe doesn't look very good on Apple TV or my iPad.

What do I need to do next? I can convert it via chapters, and it work just fine on chapters 1 thru 21 and locks on 22. Amazing enough 1-21 are the complete move, with credits etc. The DVD is "God's Not Dead" and a second copy of the DVD provided the same result, so what is the next step besides giving up?

I Know how to fix it now, thanks to kurt

I followed this advice from kurt and it worked fine. my cpu was running at 25%, using Clone DVD Mobile 1.9.0.7 and AnyDVD 7.5.5.0, I was able to get a precision M4V file backup so that I could watch it on my Apple TV and my iPad, and I missed this post for almost a year. Great job all, I have been using these products for over nine years, and have found them to be terrific and well supported. Thanks again to the whole team, and a special thanks to kurt for this great tip.

here's what he said in an earlier thread:

When your system is hung at 99%, hit CTR-ALT-DEL, go to Processes tab, mencoder.exe will be running at about 13% cpu (depending on your rig). Select it and hit end process. This closes the MP4 file!!! All is well with the final file!8)

99% Freeze with CloneDVDMobile

I am having the same problems and have tried all suggestions and nothing works. I am trying Handbrake right now and it seems to be working.

Sad, Slysoft stuff used to work pretty well but have had too many problems lately.

Thanks, kurt.

I didn't find a mencoder.exe process but I did find Dispatcher for LibAV transcoding (32 bit) at around 16 to 18% with a little picture of a sheep next to it. I ended this process and worked like a charm.
