Last King of Scotland and Notes on a Scandal Can't Play/Shuts Down AnyDvd

When I put The Last King of Scotland or Notes on a Scandal into my drive, they both shut down AnyDvd and the drive itself doesn't recognize the disc. It is like there is no disc in the drive for either movie. It reminds me of the rootkit that sony put out about a year ago. I typicaly use Anydvd with Shrink, and Nero. But like I said, I can't even get the movie to open up. Any ideas?

a) Keep your license key file backed up safely
b) Uninstall Anydvd (start-->all programs-->Slysoft--->Anydvd-->Uninstall)

Now can your drive see the discs?

For those of you having the same or similar problem, click on the start menu, then click anydvd (not rip with anydvd), the message "scanning disc with anydvd" will pop up and then you can rip it with anydvd, shrink, or whatever.

As you can see from here there is so little protection on these discs that Shrink, provided the version you use can decrypt css, can handle the discs by itself. And Anydvd handles those titles without any issues.

I suggest if Anydvd is shutting down that there is something wrong with your system or possibly your reader.

In particular,

1. Ensure PC Friendly is enabled in Anydvd (click the fox icon on your toolbar, open the tree under "Video DVD" and select "Settings". Ensure everything on the right is checked.

2. Do steps 3 and 4 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1559

3. Try reading the discs on another system with Anydvd.

I did LKOS with AnyDVD(latest), Dvd Shrink and ImgBurn.

.... except , maybe , that both have RCE

Do you have the/ a DVD Region - assigned for your Source Drive ?
- for AnyDVD to Emulate ?

I had no problems with The Marsh(WS),Notes On A Scandal(WS),Smokin' Aces(WS), and The Last King Of Scotland(WS) all Region 1 with AnyDVD v 6.1.3.6.
