Hello!

Now it's the second time that I got a PM with the following content:

--------------------------------------------------
Standard Hello
Dear, galileo7901;horst2;umaxra;kjanderson;Rana!

There are viruses' activities from your computer! Highly recommend you to scan your computer for malicious and potentially unwanted software. If you do not follow this, I will have to make a complaint to your Internet Service Provider with attached log file (your IP address, etc.). If you want to find a report about your computer's security and solve every problem with it, please click here: http://
This is an online service that you can use for free spyware removal. Use it to scan your computer to help protect, clean, and keep your computer running at its best. Use the free scan to check for and remove viruses, spyware, and other potentially malicious software and to find vulnerabilities or shortcomings in your Internet security.

Thank you. Yours truly, William Jackson.

Two more of these very nasty messages:
(P.S. in case anyone here is naive: do NOT follow these links!
PPS - I respectfully suggest that a moderator or manager send a PM to everybody with a title something like "Warning about spam PM's warning you about spam..." Errr... Well anyway that would have cleared things up for me much faster if I had seen such a message right alongside these other intimitating messages.)

Default Stop spam!
Your computer was noticed in email spam. It is quite possible that it is a part of botnet (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botnet). Strongly recommend you to scan your computer for malware. You can do it online at: http://total-scan.org/spammers/(you...(see [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botnet).

Hi.

Also I was get one forum spam message from Blocked user, Andylevvis. Is he real person or has some Bot writen these scam messages to SlySoft forum?
- Still, I think that when this kind "user" get banned, forum moderator should also warn peoples who was get PM messages from them and if possibly, delete 'those messages' or 'all messages from those senders' before someone unaware person follow them to somewhere. If it is not possibly, then I think anybody should get warn about these scam messages to mail and after login.

How many computer should to get infected because of this scam?

Shut down your PM service until this blows over.

I think a better solution would be to add the scam URI (even better the domain name) to the forum filter, that is if vBulletin allows that for PMs. It's the only way to ensure that everyone, not only those who are reading this, be protected.

By suggesting to turn off the PM system here, you're only addressing the issue for those who are already aware of the scam and probably would not click on the offending link anyway.

Just my 2 cents.

Email spam

I also received the following email:

"You have received a new private message at SlySoft Forum from Andylevvis, entitled "Email spam".

To read the original version, respond to, or delete this message, you must log in here:

some kind of filter would be nice y. Limiting to pm's to mods and contacts kind of limits its function too much for me. With that option ticked, legitimate users can no longer pm you either with a valid question or pm. They get screwed over too.

I agree with this.

Just my 2 cents: as I said before: send everybody a PM warning them in the subject about fisching PM's. Just that will solve the problem nicely, I think. No need for shutting off everyone's PM nor for fancy filters.

Secondarily: petition Vbulletin to add a "one-click report spam PM" button to any PM.

(As you can see, I am a new member myself and was only brought here by copies of these threatening notices sent to my email box. Not a very nice introduction to a forum. But I happen to own a Vbulletin myself so I know how this happens.)

The pm should be forwarded to an admin, they can not only ban the user ip but delete all pm's sent by them. Anyone that gets one also be sure to check their status to see if they are already banned, if so just delete the pm.

Can't the ADMINs set up something so that a user with under X posts can't send a PM?
This problem is getting old.

Clams- anything useful to say?

I don't have a lot of computer experience, and when I have a problem, I try to come to this site. I see numerous posts by someone who calls himself/herself "Clams", and most of his/her posts are insulting someone. Why is this allowed? Because someone needs help, it doesn't mean he/she is a 'dweeb', it means they need help. If I had more time on my hands, maybe I could send derogatory comments about others, instead of helping them correct whatever is wrong. How many of the insulted people come back to this forum? Who oversees these comments, and why is this allowed?
Please advise, I am interested

A new scam pm today from WilliamDuncan (guess he's the same guy using a different nick...)
