I went to device manager and set the region on my DVD drive to 1, but when AnyDvd scans it still says region not set.....could that be a problem

No

But you need to disable Anydvd when you set the region of your drive.

i. Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit Anydvd
ii. Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
iii.Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
iv. Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
v. Click "properties".
vi. You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
vii. Select the region that you're in
viii. Start Anydvd

Wouldn't this indicate a bootleg?

Re-read their post again. They said they ripped it and then mounted it with Daemon Tools. :)

There truly was no problem I guess. I burned my backup copy to disc and it works fine. Sorry guys. I was just hesitant to burn it in case I ended up with a nice dvd sized coaster. But all is well:clap:
