I've been using CloneDVD and AnyDVD for a long time. Recently upgraded my system with an internal HP DVD-DL Writer. This writer works fine with my usual media, writing with DVD-5 compression. To make full use of this new writer, I went out and bought some Verbatim DL DVDs (made in singapore), and I get the W2 errors. I've gone through the gambit with the forums, completing each task as if it were a test, including updating firmware, updating and changing drivers, reinstalling slysoft.... Only one thing left, to examine Upper and Lower filters, so please someone have a look at these and tell me what I have to do to make this thing work. Your assistance is both anticipated and appreciated.

1. I prefer using Clonecd and not Clonedvd with +R DLs: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

Nero's Incd is packet writing software, and Incd can cause conflicts with Clonedvd. I recommend uninstalling Incd (not all of Nero--just Incd) and ensuring the filters I quoted no longer appear.

2. i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "incdrm". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "InCDPass". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Click "ok".
iv) Reboot

I think this can be done via the add/remove programs too?

Cannot uninstall in either of those places, but I removed the filters and I think CloneDVD just passed the point where it fails, so let's see.....

Nope. I just got the same error.

1) a)Click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
b) Navigate to "Program Settings".
c) Click "enable logging".
d) Click "ok".
e) Put the problematic original disc in your optical drive/reader.
f) Go to your My Documents folder
g) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip"
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif

i) if you don't see that icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) a small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"

2) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, d) capacity/size, e) batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and f)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).

If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

3) Have you selected dvd+/-R DL near the quality bar in Clonedvd?

4) What speed are you burning at?

5) Have you tried this method: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

Provide answers to the rest of my questions as well please.

Also, please do the following in the drive you're having problems with:

a)Click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
b) Navigate to "Program Settings".
c) Click "enable logging".
d) Click "ok".
e) Put the problematic original disc in your optical drive/reader.
f) Go to your My Documents folder
g) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip"
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif

i) if you don't see that icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) a small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"

By the way,

SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-308B T102 CPQ1011T1020
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

i. Right click the fox on your toolbar. Exit Anydvd
ii. Click start. Right click on "My computer"--->select "properties".
iii.Click on the 'Hardware' tab--->click the 'device manager' button.
iv. Open the dvd/cdrom branch---> right click on your optical drive
v. Click "properties".
vi. You should have a region tab. From there you can select a region.
vii. Select the region that you're in
viii. Start Anydvd

That won't help the issue you're having though. And this drive is not a dvd burner, obviously.

3) Yes

4) Default CloneDVD speed???

5) Far too involved for what I want. I'm not looking to take up a new profession, I just want to backup my movies so the kids don't scratch them.

No. Bad idea. Try a 4x burn speed.

Far too involved for what I want.

 Much easier for what you want. And the process is less complicated than what you should be doing for Clonedvd:

click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 (that is what you should be doing for Clonedvd--step by step)

1. You should also be looking for a possible firmware update for your burner.
Visit your burner's website, and update your burner's firmware if possible.
If you don't know how to go about doing this, visit http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.php?p=12794&postcount=10

2. Try using Clonecd: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327
If the problem repeats itself, I would look into using a different burner.

How do I change the burn speed?

I don't have a license for clonecd, not interested in purchasing if their DVD client doesn't work.

Have updated firmeware umpteen times.

How do I change the burn speed?

On Clonedvd's output method page, a "preferred speed" drop down box exists.

click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=476 and follow the steps in order please

You don't need one. Just use the free 21 day trial period: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=327

not interested in purchasing if their DVD client doesn't work.

It seems more likely to me that this is either an issue with your burner (DOA), or a conflict on your system,
as I am unable to reproduce this issue on three different computers on over six different burners.

By the way, Clonedvd is developed by Elaborate Bytes. Slysoft is a reseller of Clonedvd. Slysoft does develop Clonecd.

And trying Clonecd helps to narrow down whether the issue is with your burner or the software.

Verbatim + R DL (made in Singapore) are the best +R DLs available. If they don't work, then as far as I'm concerned (and really, by definition) the burner is dead. Many companies use Verbatim +R DL as a defacto test standard for their burners.

Thanks to all for a job well done

Since the numerous dizzying changes I've made to my computer and the drive in question, my drive no longer recognizes blank cds through Nero or Windows Explorer. I burned my last cd MOMENTS before I starting working on this issue.

Anyone who even thinks about saying the drive is bad or I should use slysoft products is a monkey-mating donkey.

And by the way, IT STILL DIDN'T WORK!!!!!

And it is NOT the drive because I replaced it!!!!

And yet, oddly, I have no issues on over 3 different system on over six (actually 7) different burners. And in fact, the only change I told you to make was to remove Incd. Consequently, it would make sense that you can't drag and drop files in Windows Explorer anymore, since Incd is what allowed you to do so before.

And if you followed my instructions, you would have backed up your registry. Restoring your registry would return your system to the exact same (dubious) state it was in before.

Anyone who even thinks about saying the drive is bad or I should use slysoft products is a monkey-mating donkey.

I didn't state definitively that your burner was dead--only that it's a possibility that it is dying (amongst a number of others including possible driver conflicts).

And by the way, IT STILL DIDN'T WORK!!!!!

Doesn't really surprise me since you refuse to follow instructions.

Out of the hundreds of people I've helped here, I think there's less than 3 people who have made this claim.

But I will lock this thread, and you are more that welcome to contact Elaborate Bytes instead.
