1. James recommends using the standard Microsoft ide controller drivers--not Intel's. I'm not very familiar with Windows 2000, however, so while I may have a basic idea of how to change this, I don't have specific instructions for you.
2. You've got a Sonic Solutions' Drag-to-Disc packet writing software (i.e., junk) on your system that is likely causing a conflict while reading the disc.
If you want to drag and drop files, invest in a dvd-ram solution instead (it's more stable).

And James also notes that this Oak filter/driver causes a lot of problems.
i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program:
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "DLACDBHM". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "drvmcdb". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "cdrbsdrv". Click "Remove selected filter". Select "Cdr4_2K". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "AFS2K". Click "Remove Select filter". Click "ok".
iv) Reboot
Keep in mind the programs that installed those filters will no longer function properly.
3. Download
Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. With Anydvd running in the background, select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is (probably) bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).
