My HP dvd 740i burner will not recognise Memorex dvd-r DL disks. I guess that these bargain diskd were not much of a bargain.

Are there any burners out there that will recognise Memorex disks?

Thanks

Yeah, but these discs tend to be pretty junky.

Use Verbatim +R DL (preferably made in Singapore) only

Maxell discs are never a bargain at any price.
Will the HP recognize other brands of media?

Are you sure your Maxell D/L are -R?

Memorex

Maxell discs are never a bargain

Maxell Plus, Maxell Pro cd-rs (these are Taiyo Yudens with a protective layer), and Maxell Broadcast Quality are all excellent

They are, however, not cheap.

Regular Maxell (which is what most people buy) does, indeed, tend to be crap at any price

To the best of my knowledge there are no -R D/L discs.

Yes, there are. And it's a useless format.
