having the same problem as mogul, cannot get Bourne Ultimatum to copy using any AI scanner setting, including disabled. Though, when disabled is selected, anydvd reports that there is sector protection on the disc, but finds no protections(besides CSS) at all when ai scanner is enabled... hmm... tried anydvd+nero recode combo, anydvd ripper, all fail to read vts_01_3.vob. hopefully a new version of anydvd will be released soon to address this. tried 6.3.0.0 and also 6.3.0.1 beta versions, both same results. please help us! argh!

You can't possibly claim that based on what's posted. Please do not post in other people's troubleshooting threads unless you want to help them.

1. click http://forum.slysoft.com/announcement.php?f=18 and read fully

2. Ensure you're using Anydvd 6.3.0.1 beta: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=10591

3 a)Click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
b) Navigate to "Program Settings".
c) Click "enable logging".
d) Click "ok".
e) Put the problematic disc in your optical drive/reader.
f) Go to your My Documents folder
g) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip"
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif

i) if you don't see that icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) a small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"

4) State the full a)error message(s) you encountered (click "details"), b)tell us what program(s) you were using when you received the error message(s), and c) describe in detail what you were doing when you received the error message(s). What problem are you having exactly?

5) Download Nero cd-dvd speed. It's a free program. With Anydvd running in the background, select the tab labeled "scandisc". Select the appropriate drive letter, and click "start". If Nero cd-dvd speed reports read errors, your disc is (probably) bad and needs to be exchanged--even if it plays fine (or your optical drive could be slowly dying).

There's no protection on this disc. Just CSS. Nothing special

Update:

I took the movie back for a 4th time. SUCCESS!

I can't believe 3 bad presses in a row. After I got the 4th one AnyDVD had no problem with it whatsoever.

Sorry I didn't start a new thread, I have been reading the forums for a long time, but only joined today. I will take care not to do that again.

Thanks for the assistance...

All is well now!

Harry Potter & Bourne Ulitmate

I backed up both movies with AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 with no problem. I have Windows xp

my problem with bourne ultimatum (redbox)

there IS copy protection on this disc in addition to CSS protection., try turning off the AI scanner for fun and it will tell a different story ( AKA " Found and removed invalid VOBUs" in disc information). also, just for fun i tried using the old school "DVD Decrypter" final version without anydvd running and it would "rip" but i would get the little boy jumping against a green backdrop and it would loop over and over on PowerDVD. That is with trying to play the ripped dvd files off the HDD. With any other AnyDVD setting for ai scanner, it will then not show the invalid VOBUs that are present on this disc. by the way, i'm using a U.S., Region 1 copy, so i don't know what version you have, obviously there is some new protection on these discs. original plays fine in standalone player and in PowerDVD. i have tried latest official and beta release to no avail..... i have ripped hundreds of movies before this! Using Windows XP Pro SP2 and have tried Nero Recode 2 (nero 7 ultra ed.), AnyDVD 6.3.0.0+0.1 beta built-in ripper, and DVD Decrypter with anydvd running of course. Help!

Thanks for your insight to say it is a new protection. If this is the case then why am I watching my backup and it has yet to skip or pixelate etc????? I am currently 20 minutes into it and still ok on playback

ok wise guy, its not like i'm new to the whole dvd ripping scene... i have tried every possible setting in anydvd, tried all the programs listed in previous post. Where did you get your copy of Bourne Ultimatum, from a guy in a black trenchcoat on the street corner? I have a brand new copy in my hands, and it has not a scratch on it and plays fine, so it's not the disc. There is obviously something to this... using RiDATA 16X DVD-R not like that matters because all the errors are before the burn process even begins.. frustrated .. very frustrated

Got mine from the local Best Buy store. Wasn't trying to be wise but I am puzzled that everyone keeps saying it is the disc and mine is still playing without skips or anything. Almost an hour into the movie as well now. Well about 45 minutes to be honest.

Enabling or disabling the AI scanner on this disc won't have any affect in terms of Anydvd's decryption: Anydvd isn't reporting structural protection. You may be seeing different information in Anydvd's status window, but based on what Anydvd's status window the AI scanner is a non-factor.

Charlie is one of the more respected members on these forums. If you want to insult him, find somewhere else to do it. :policeman:

While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

Consider this a warning. :policeman:

you guys MUST have a different version of the movie than me then, because disabling ai scanner on my version shows invalid vobus. just look in my log file on previous post.. by the way i got my copy from a Redbox machine in ohio. sorry if i insulted charlie, but i am frustrated and thought he was showing me disrespect which i have low tolerance for. sorry.

1. Click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Click the "default" button. Click "ok".

2. Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar. Select "Rip video-dvd to harddisk".

3. Use Powerdvd to play that rip. Are you having issues?

No (it's possible, but I doubt it). You're right. The point you're making about there being additional protection in addition to CSS is valid (with respect to the invalid VOBUs). However, enabling or disabling the AI scanner with this disc won't make a difference in terms of Anydvd decrypting it because Anydvd is not reporting structural protection. The only difference is what Anydvd is reporting in its status screen. If Anydvd reports "Structural copy protection not found" then fiddling with the AI scanner will have no real effect (just what appears in Anydvd's status screen may change).

Ohhhh . . .

Well, discussion of copying rentals is not allowed here.

Now I'm going to have to move your posts (and lock them)
