i have got the new close encounters of the third kind on blu ray, i put it in my drive , and it would not load ,or play or even get into the menu screen. so i ripped to the harddrive and tried it again and it worked fine , trouble is i dont want to keep it on my hdd as it is 42.5 gb , and i dont want to rip it everytime i watch it , so does anyone know why it wont play normally form the disc , i am using powerdvd version 3104 a and a pioneer blu ray drive and of course anydvd hd .:)

Post the Anydvd zip file to the forums

a)Click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
b) Navigate to "Program Settings".
c) Click "enable logging".
d) Click "ok".
e) Put the problematic disc in your optical drive/reader.
f) Go to your "My Documents" folder
g) You will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip"
h) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like
attach.gif

i) if you don't see that icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
j) a small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
k) click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
l) click "upload"

You'll need PowerDVD 3514 for close encounters.

Very simple:

*Before* installing the new version, make a copy of the old one. e.g., make a copy of the "PowerDVD" directory. Rename this to PowerDVD3104 (for example).
Now install 3514.

You can switch back and forth all PowerDVD versions by renaming the "PowerDVD" directory.
EDIT:
For example, you want to switch back to PowerDVD 3104. Make sure no stupid PowerDVD processes are running, like PDServ.exe (very annoying program anyway, remove it from Windows startup).
rename PowerDVD to PowerDVD3514
rename PowerDVD3104 to PowerDVD
reboot

You don't even need to reboot afterwards, if you stop / start the PowerDVD kernel mode driver.

You can do this from device manager, the driver is called {95808DC4-FA4A-4C74-92FE-5B863F82066B}

or type
net stop {95808DC4-FA4A-4C74-92FE-5B863F82066B}
from the command prompt to stop it, and
net start {95808DC4-FA4A-4C74-92FE-5B863F82066B}
to start it.

EDIT2:
If I have the time, I can make a very simple script / program, which can do this automatically.

hi james thanks or that, a program would be great if you could do it , thanks again:)

I'm just curious:
Is this the only disc that needs 3514?
3514 is only required when playing from the movie disc but not from HDD, isn't it?
Are there movies that require 3514 to play from HDD?
Thanx for the info!

My copy works fine using 3319a, running from the original disc or from the harddrive with or without AnydvdHD
