Hey James I just bought Superbad and PowerDVD 3319a is saying there is no disc in the drive when I try to play the disc, but when I try to rip it, it says trial versions are not able to update. Didn't you say you were going to have weekly updates for those that don't have internet connections, or have the trial version?

Yes he did. And the next version will be released this weekend sometime according to a post from James. (That's an anticipated release timeframe, not a hard date) Nonetheless, they've been doing near weekly releases since they implemented this concept.

So, maybe you should buy it? :D

The trial version works 21 days, right? willn must have a very "special" trial version then, since he posted logfiles for Casino Royale on October 6th and 7 weeks later apparently he is still testing AnyDVD.

Maybe he formats his HDD every 3 weeks....:D??

or maybe he doesn't have internet connection on his media PC
I don't, it stops too much working, does updates while playing a movie, gets virus, etc.

How about having a system where our registered version of AnyDVD HD can connect and get a key as a file, a key we can then transfer to our media PC.

PS
I am very paranoid
I have a pc that is only used for online banking (no other sites at all) ..... never any problems, virus or trojans
I have a pc for media playing, no internet access at all ....... never any problems, working proggys never updated (no antivirus as this interferes with media playback)
I have a pc for email and internet use .... gets virus and trojans all the time, goes straight through firewalls and anti-virus proggys

you must be very unlucky, I have never received a virus or Trojan, but then I don't tend to have emails on my system, just use hotmail which filters them all out

If he had actually bought it and his PC doesn't have an inet connection he wouldn't get the message "trial versions are not able to update.".

The error message "trial versions are not able to update" says different. If people don't want to pay for the service, they won't get it.

Install a firewall and only let the AnyDVD process connect, this should be safe. Or connect the Ethernet cable only, if AnyDVD asks for an update. (You can enable / disable the network adapter, too, so you don't need to crawl behind your HTPC to plug cables in or out)

Nope. These files would spread like wildfire on cracker sites. As I said, if people don't want to pay for the service, they won't get it.

Your approach makes a lot of sense, actually. There's the cost of development and some other things. Users who paid for AnyDVD HD can use the online server or not. It's up to them. A manual update when the weekly updates are released is an option for those who don't want an internet connection at all on a system.

Protecting the method of handling MKB v4 keys is completely valid and understandable on Slysoft's part. People can use the latest version and handle discs that were released before that version. If they like the product and how it works they can pay and then also get the ability to instantly handle new MKB v4 discs. Seems completely solid to me.

It's just unfortunate the big story circulating around the net is the incorrect story that Slysoft broke BD+ while I wish I saw more articles about Slysoft breaking MKB v4. I think I've only run across two smaller articles concerning that.

I did have an "extended" trial :D based upon the fact that things were up in the air with the MKB v4 and BD+ stuff. Now, that I see SlySoft is an awesome company with GREAT tech support and customer service, I am ready to buy! I am all for supporting companies like SlySoft who take the time to answer each customer personally and consistently maintain a wonderful product. My only problem now is...... I don't get paid until Friday. :(

Haha, you mean like this that a "friend" of mine sent me:

(I never installed anything off that CD - lol, he's a fool - 3 cracks for the one program?? I don't know what he's been smoking!)

Let me just point out, as an impartial non-slysoft-customer - why should he buy it if the trial version doesn't work as desired? ;)

It works as desired. And he uses the trial for several months now, so he should know.

"This topic along with that of CRACKS is NOT TO BE TOLERATED!"

Some of you are in dire need of reading the forum rules.

The discussion of cracks is not allowed here. I do not want to see screenshots of cracks, much
less an ongoing conversation about how to circumvent trial periods.

Should this happen again, I will ban people. :policeman:

Consider this a warning.
