So far no matter what I have done for the profile, on the SECOND startup the game asks for the CD. I have disabled Alcohol 120% Virtual Drive. I have the original game in the original jacket. It is labeled "Puzzle Game Of The Year Edition". It has a label on the back that reads "CD SET: X06-22702"
1. What version of Game Jackal are you running?
2.9.18.600
2. What Operating system are you using? 64 bit? service pack?
WIN XP SP2 Home Edition
3. If you have virtual drives, disable them while profiling and playing profiles. This includes Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, Virtual Clonedrive, Clonecdtray, and possibly Anydvd.
This has been done.
4. Remove packet writing software from your system (including Roxio's Directcd, Nero's Incd, Roxio/Sonic's DragtoDisc, Drive Letter Access, CyberLink InstantBurn, NTI's Filecd, etc.)
Not sure where or how to do this.
5. What protection does your game use?
SafeDisc V0 (zero) is what Protection said.
6. What is the name of the game you're trying to run?
MICROSOFT Pandora's Box (Feb.02, 2000 I believe)
7. What is the version of the game?
File Version 1.02.100
8. Is it cd or dvd version?
CD
9. What region or country is the original disc from?
USA
10. What cpu are you running?
Mobile Intel Pentium 4 - M CPU 2.00 GHz
11. What optical drives (dvd-rom,cd-rom, burners) are you using to create profiles with? HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4240N

What firmware version is installed on your reader? Don't know
12. What security software (firewall, antivirus) are you using? Please provide version numbers. Was using COMODO, now back to standard XP Firewall.
13. Describe your problem, provide full error messages, and please state clearly what you were doing when you received those error messages.
I have run several puzzles trying to let the profile build, and after the CD pops out, the game will start one time via Game Jackal Profile, and then the next time I open it via GJ a box pops up and reads "Insert the Pandora's Box CD, and then start Pandora's Box again.

14. You should have two log files in your Game Jackal directory. The first is called. Proc Monitor.log, and the second is called Profile.log (do not post the Profiler.log file... notice the "r" at the end). Copy and past the information into your next post. Here is one way to do it:

Try the latest beta

And please do steps 14 and 15 from this link: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=4824

Pandora's Box #2

OK I removed Game Jackal Ver. xxxx.600 and downloaded Ver xxx 608 which is the Beta. I then re-created the profile, and the same thing happened -- it ran once without the CD in the drive, and the next time I tried to open it it said I had to have the CD.

Here is step 14:

You've got a lot of packet writing junk on your system, which tends to interfere with a lot of programs (including Slysoft's), Uninstall Drag to disc and Directcd. Ensure those three filters I quoted are no longer on your system.

If you don't know how to do that, then follow these steps:

i) Create a backup of your registry
ii) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
iii) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Select "Cdr4_xp". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "Cdralw2k". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Select "pwd_2k". Click "Remove Selected Filter". Click "ok".
iv) Reboot

It's better to uninstall the programs that installed those three filters, but if you can't figure out how, then follow the steps I listed. Please keep in mind the programs that installed those filters will no longer work properly.

Pandora's Box #3

Maybe I had better give up and not buy Game Jackal -- this CD does not want to co-operate.
I have removed the extra packet writers -- the programs were already gone but there were remains...
GJ "Locked capture mode for this profile" is checked. What other settings might be important in the set-up to get this profile correct?
I am able to duplicate the CD so if the original becomes damaged I have a backup. I and my grandkids would like not to have to hunt up and insert the CD every time we want to get the challenge of some excellent puzzles.

I can send the CD to some wizard over there if they want to see what this thing has on it that Game Jackal does not see.......
