I am having an issue with the AnyDVD ripper, on several version (including lastest)
when I play back the VOB on my DSM-520 the second and greater VOB's
change the language, or use the director commentary as the audio track.
I am not seeing this issue if I play the VOB on the PC, just the my d-link.
I have used other ripper in the past with no issues. I have made backups
of lots of my DVDs, and ever one I have gone back and check is that way.

Has anyone else seen this issue, and is there any way to control the
languages like in cloneDVD?

Regards,
Mike

Anydvd ripper doesn't change languages. Anydvd ripper rips the entire disk.

This is actually a CloneDVD2 issue and not anydvd as you're using clone to rip right?

Anydvd ripper doesn't change languages. Anydvd ripper rips the entire disk.

Please note that is on the DSM-520, even with the latest version of firmware
that just came out. I even tried the Active-TV client. I do NOT see the
issue on a windows based player. It rips the disk fine other wise.

I am use the AnyDVD ripper.. Right mouse on the fox, and "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk"

I have not used cloneDVD except to burn an ISO.
Maybe CloneDVD will do the same as AnyDVD, but I did not find a way.
If so please enlight me.

Mike

OK with that said I second to what webslinger said anydvd doesn't exclude any language and rips the whole disc. So it has something to do with what you use to burn then.

Right. I'm just saying it's not Anydvd's job to change languages. Anydvd rips the entire disk. Anydvd doesn't alter or change audio at all. So this issue you're having doesn't have anything to do with Anydvd.

This is an issue with either your DSM-520 or your playback software.

Moving thread to the Third Party Products forum . . .

Factory Disk

This are factory DVDs... It most likely is the way that the DSM-520 is reading the VOB files.

I was curious if anyone else with a D-Link was experience the same problem.
If it's a D-Link issue, I have close to nill getting the issue fixed. Nuff-Said.

Maybe what I need to do, is dig out an old DVD ripper, and see if it's doing the
same issue, or go back to an old harddisk copy of a DVD before I bought AnyDVD.
Then I can absolute rule it out. But given that if all it is doing is
unlocking the disk, you are most likely correct, it's not AnyDVD.

Needless to say I am happy with the product, I just trying to float an issue to see if anyone has scene the same issue, and how they resolved it.

Thanks for your help.

I do appreciate that you're having problems and that they must be frustrating.

1) I found the title of your thread confusing, because Anydvd ripper doesn't actually change languages on .vobs. Anydvd ripper simply rips the disc.

2) The issue doesn't involve Anydvd since other your playback software on your PC plays the Anydvd rip fine.

3) As the issue has nothing to do with Anydvd then, I was also initially confused as to why this thread was posted in the Anydvd forum.

If someone else has your DSM-520 perhaps they can shed some more light on this issue. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with that D-Link product. Sorry. Perhaps someone else here will be able to assist you.

Regardless of the root issue - the thing you need to do is re-process the AnyDVD rip with another piece of software that allows you to select and/or force *desired* streams only. The AnyDVD rip just rips - warts and all. (but it rips well!)

The freeware DVDShrink 3.2 can do all this and more with ease.

Thanks for your reply

My original assumption was this was caused by AnyDVD. I was incorrect.
This is why I decided to post on the forum. I had googled the topic
and was finding no hits, so I was think it was related to AnyDVD
and the method I was using. And truthfully the method issue was correct,
because it seems that the D-Link is the one with the problem,
and the fix albeit a band-aid is rip it removing all other audio tracks,
then it can't mess up (I hope). ;)

Thanks you for your very quick response. Most other forums you post
something and it takes days (if ever) before you get a response.

Mike

Hi Mike...

The first rule of good troubleshooting is to go into the process *assuming nothing*, it just makes the "search for truth of the matter" easier if preconceptions are left out of the mix.

Also, if you're copying to single layer DVDs (DVD5's) removing all the unwanted audio and subtitles is a good thing, it saves more room on the disk for the Main Movie. I personally remove everything except the main movie and the English AC3 5.1 audio track.
