It is important to answer all the questions as Webslinger has asked. Also, is sounds as if the Game Jackal exe is corrupt. Have you tried re-installing it?

2. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS
3. I do not have any virtual drives
4. I have none of that software expect Nero 8 the burning software and nothing else install.
5. I am not sure the game protection it use.
6. The game I am trying to get it work is Halo, MOH: Airborn, F.E.A.R., BioShock, and Starcraft.
7. The updated version for the game
8. two games are cd's and rest are dvd
9. The region of the disc is from U.S.A.
10. CPU I am runing is Intel Core 2 qUAD 2.4GHz
11. I have a DVD-RW drive
12. I have only antivirus NOD32 and the lastest version
13. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000017). Click ok to terminate the application.

Hi matthew I have try to install it again it works but after I restart my computer it gives me the same error.

Can someone help me out thanks I really need to get my Game Jackal to work.

Are you able to start GJ manually? i.e. using the desktop icon.

Hi matthew what do you mean by start GJ manually? You mean that I create a desktop shortcut from game jackal and run it on the desktop and see if it works?

Can you try creating a profile with "Image mode" checked. This is not an idea solution as it will create a huge profile. However it will help in determining this issue.

PS - Ignore my previous response... I actually misread your original post

HI, matthew I try to recreate the profile with the image mode checked it still say the same error can some please help out I really need this program to work ;(

a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)
b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).

Hi here is the information

O.k., your filters look fine.

Have you tried disabling User Account Control?

Hi, webslinger where is the user account control and how do i disable it?

Hi, websinger I have disable the UAC and I have restart my computer and it still show the same error message :( I hope it is not my antivirus I am using NOD32. I will try to reformat my computer this weekend and try again but can you still try to think on ways I can get this working. I really need this program to work thanks.

Just to clarify a few things....

Have you just "run" Game Jackal? No profiles loaded or anything like that, just run the program, and it should come up on the screen with the options to create a profile and such.

Have you tried any other games with Game Jackal, preferably games without SecureROM protection? Do you have multiple CD/DVD drives? Are they SATA drives, or the older EIDE CD/DVD drives?

Windows Vista and Game Jackal do not always cooperate when it comes to certain copy protection systems, and it even seems to be a problem only for certain games on some systems, but not others. For myself, I can get just about everything to work with Game Jackal and Vista Home Premium, but Neverwinter Nights 2 just won't work for me as an example...yet the same game works on another system I have but with Windows XP.

These are the reasons why you need to be very specific about what game(s) you have problems with, as well as settings and such. Slysoft is working very hard to track down the source of problems, but with ambiguous information from people, it is impossible(not just hard) for them to isolate the source(s) of problems. There is a big difference between "Please insert the correct CD", and the application crashing, or the ever popular blue screen of death(having Mask of the Betrayer in the drive will cause this on my Vista machine).

Please note that if NOTHING works for you, that may indicate that Game Jackal itself was not installed correctly(some weird glitch), you have a CD/DVD in the drive, you have a SATA CD/DVD drive in your system, or you have some other program installed that is causing a conflict with your CD/DVD drive. In most cases, programs like Nero also install services into Windows which continue to run, even if you have turned off virtual drives.

With Vista being so new(yes, I know we are getting close to it being out for a year for corporate customers), but there are still a number of issues that have yet to be resolved. Just having a program installed may be enough to cause unknown issues in Vista is what I am trying to say.
