I tried ripping the disk. It did complete after it showed an error. The .iso file seems the proper size and after I mounted it, some of the VOB files were playable, but not all. I cannot view the 4 episodes on the disk. Disks 1 and 2 worked as expected.

When I ran the logfile creator, it produced 2 files (see attached).

You can try to set AI scanner to "always enabled" for these discs.
 
I installed a SATA, internal blu-ray player in my computer. I was able to rip the DVD as expected. My issues are all because of the 2 USB, external blu-ray drives I was using.
