Is that possible? Because the "High" Profile has the lower Bitrate at the moment

Here is an Example:

"The Devil All the Time"

Look at the Videosize alone its 500 MBs higher also the Bitrate is higher so it would be nice if there were an Option to choose the different profiles?

I'm no avc expert, but I'd think that high @ 6936k is "better" than main @ 7500k, notwithstanding the nominal values of the bitrates and file sizes.

I see this very often - that people will go for the video with the highest bitrate, thinking that must be better.
If that were a sensible approach, we'd all be still using MPEG2 :)

If you look closely, there are a few very significant differences, that weigh more than the sheer bit rate.
The smaller file is using a far larger motion estimation range and way more B frames.
I'm fairly certain, that the first one offers the far better quality.

No its not ive tested it, the "High" Version looks worse in dark scenes. Also MPEG2 is still used on some german blurays :D

Its the same problem with crf encodes often they look worse than 2 pass because in dark scenes the bitrate is to minimal and you have artefacts all over the place, you can see that with OLED TVs because they can show them, with normal LEDs its way more difficult because no absolut blacks etc.

Netflix changed the "good" Bitrate Versions to "Main" because of piracy they cant patch the "hole" (or atleast all TVs from pre 2016 could not use Netflix anymore) thats why they changed the profiles some time ago. The "Main" 1080p Profile is the better one at the moment.

Well, ok, then I'll take your word for it.
