I have been successfully backing-up my Blu-ray disks for over a year now and would like to start backing-up my 4K UHD discs. To accomplish this I recently purchased a Pioneer BDR-XD07B Slim Portable USB 3.0 BD/DVD/CD Writer. According to the drive specs, the drive should read and write BD/R; BD-R DL; BD-R TL/QL; BD-R (LTH); BD-RE; BD-RE DL/TL; M-DISC BD-R SL/TL/DL. Additionally, the drive should be able to read BD-ROM SL/DL.
Testing the drive, I discovered that it could read and write to BD-R and BD-R DL discs but when I inserted a 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray disc into the drive, the drive failed to see the disc and kept messaging me to insert a disc into the drive. Why? Did I buy the wrong drive?
It should be noted that my computer has a Intel Core i3-3220T CPU @ 2.80 GHz Processor with 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM and only has USB 2.0 ports.
Any help you can provide to get me on the right learning path so that I back-up my 4K UHD discs will be deeply appreciated.
