Hi,
I have been using Anydvd for a few years on Windows XP, I have installed Windows 7 and am unable to install Anydvd
When I download I get a message stating that Windows 7 must have SP1 and Update KB3033929 installed
SP1 is installed but when I try to download KB3033929 I get the message that "the update is not applicable on this computer"
How can I install Anydvd?
many thanks

"not applicable" sounds like maybe you have 32bit Windows (KB3033929 is 64bit only). But the AnyDVD installer should only require it for x64.
Is there anything really, really keeping you from getting Windows 10?
Because Windows 7 is no longer supported by MS. And we're also having a hard time keeping older OS's supported, because newer compilers also abandon them one by one.

KB3033929 should work on Windows 7 SP1 64bit. It even should be installed automatically, if you let MS install "all". If this still works, as MS has updated the hash checks for their Windows updates.

... Windows 7 64 bit only supported, if Service Pack 1 and
security update KB3033929 is installed
The installer will abort, if Vista 64 bit is detected or
if KB3033929 is not installed on Windows 7 64 bit.
This check can be disabled with the /NoSHA2check command
line parameter.

You can try the /NoSHA2check command line parameter, but driver installation will fail or hang, if your Windows 7 does not support SHA2 signed drivers.

To be fair, not even windows 7 should be installed/used anymore. Especially not on a system with internet access. It lost all support last january.

I do have Windows 10 on a laptop, but...
I don't particularly care for the look. I don't like the ads that get placed in their software. I don't care for the intrusiveness. I don't care for the way they have buried so deeply some of the crappy things they've done so you can't try to undo them.

Microsoft even came out with the new Edge for Windows 7 a few weeks ago. Why? Because a lot of people like 7 over 10, for a lot of reasons.

Stay off the dark web and porno sites, and Windows 7 would be plenty safe.

I agree with Ch3vr0n that Windows 7 shouldn't be used. Even taking percautions 7 could still be vulnerable.

That is fine, you are welcome to your opinion. I am quite content with 7 and will continue to be.

untill you get hit by a 0day that microsoft won't patch. The only place win 7 can be safely used is disconnected from the internet, end of story.

Oh please, pull the age card on someone else will you? You just love trying to pick a fight with me don't you. I ain't biting.

I switched all of my PCs to Win 10, was very happy with Win 7 before but liked Win 2000 best. Win 2000 was the last "professional OS". After that they just added gimmicks.

There is a fee based program offered by MS for continuation of support for Win7.
There are certain criteria that must be met by the installation for this service to be eligible for offer though.
Not all of us great unwashed would probably qualify.
But it is there.
Art.

Continued support is only offered to businesses and it aint cheap. Your average consumer has no access to that program, thus should no longer be using 7

You people are so snippy! There are maybe three reasons for upgrades. To correct programming errors (are these computer graduates incapable of checking their own work?). To improve security. To continue making the company money. If you are happy working with a particular version of something, there's no reason why you should be forced to upgrade. I use an up-to-date Windows laptop for Internet access and an offline PC running Windows Vista to do all my work. Happy as Larry, etc.

Can anyone please explain why, despite System Requirements clearly stating Windows Vista 64-bit is supported, I get an error message saying "Windows Vista x64 is not supported" when I try to install AnyDVD on my PC?

@RedFox 1 Looks like a spam bot to me, this old post is about going from XP to 7, spammer post a link to prevent 'spyware' from windows 10. His link doesn't even apply to the issue this topic is about or his comment before (referring to windows Vista lol)
