I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to make chapters when using Nero.I have got some old movies on VHS and my friend has got a DVD VHS combo that can take the VHS and burn it to DVD but it does not make chapters in the finshed product.I want to make a back up anyway and thought it would be cool to put chapters in it.The ones he done in the past show up in the clone dvd2 menu as just one file meaning when you choose clone dvd then go to the next page there is olny one box there and it is checked off.

If you use Nero Vision on the Content page after you've imported the video if you click on More there should be a checkbox on the floating toolbar for Create chapters automatically. Check that box and it create chapters within the titles for you.

are you sure with Nero Vision ???

i think the correct name has to be Nero Vision Express because (in germany) nero-vision seems to be the same as nero-lite ... ;)

In the US at least, in Nero Burning ROM 7 Ultra it is Nero Vision 4 [minus any use of the word Express]. I think it may have been Nero Vision Express in Nero Burning ROM 6 but I honestly cannot remember. It clearly identifies itself as Nero Vision in all locations now, though.

DrinkLyeAndDie I just tried what you suggested, but I could not find anything that said about adding chapters.Could you check Nero for me and give me a step by step walk throught I would be extremely greatful thanks again.

Note the red rectangle around the setting to create chapters. Make sure it's checked.

I almost forgot when I use Nero to burn these disc's I have to use Nero recode. Please check to see if Nero recode will add chapters.I do not know why anydvd and clonedvd will not work I already posted how it olny burns half the dvd they are fighting dvd's from Vienna.Webslinger said I must be doing somethingwrong but I know I'm not my friend that has anydvd and clonedvd and he could not make it burn the whole disc.I get no error messages or anything telling me something went wrong so who knows. But I do know I can use Nero recode to burn the whole disc. But even after I use Nero recode I still can not burn the whole disc with anydvd and clonedvd.

ok I just answered my own qeustion Nero recode clones the whole disc's and add's the chapters that are on the original disc.

No, Nero Recode won't. You can compile a single DVD from parts of other DVDs which I assume would preserve the existing chapters. You cannot compile a DVD from other formats (ie Xvid, DivX, MOV, etc). Compiling a DVD from other formats or converting PAL to NTSC/NTSC to PAL is what Nero Vision is useful for.

It's possible they are badly mastered or some odd issue. Did you happen to send the IFOs to Slysoft and see if they found an issue when they looked at them? I'd definitely take this route if you haven't done so already.

I do know that at one time I got a few DVDs from Europe that wouldn't play well in 2 of my DVD players. I couldn't fast forward or rewind w/o it messing up and having to turn off the DVD player and start over. I somewhat accidentally found a way to fix that problem, though. I ripped the problem DVD to my HDD with AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 and then ran it through DVD Rebuilder Pro. Re-encoding the movie resolved the problem completely whereas the copies that I did make with AnyDVD & CloneDVD w/o re-encoding resulted the same exact problems are I had with the original discs.

You can import an entire DVD into Nero Vision and run it through that way. Doing that you can then add the chapters. I don't know how exactly Nero Vision decides how often to add a chapter, though. It figures it out on its own.

I pretty sure the disc's are good. The originals play fine they are burned in NTSC but if I try to burn them they will burn, but then when you watch them the burned ones from anydvd will play with the main menu and everything but when you start to watch the fight itself they olny play for five or ten minutes then it goes straight into the start of the next fight. What ever they did to stop you from burning them and screws up anydvd I have no idea what so ever,I'm just glad that when I use Nero recode it burns the complete disc perfectly the same way the originals with no loss in quality they are olny 3.5 to 5.0 Gigs at the most so there is little to know compression.

Well, I'd refer to all Webslinger's advice then. He knows a hell of a lot. If you haven't already then I'd send the IFOs to Slysoft and see if they can locate a problem. If you didn't already try it you could attempt to make a 1:1 copy of the discs with CloneCD and see how it turns out.

Note: I do remember you posting in a thread about these movies but I have no memory of it and right now I can't search for it because on my way out the door.

I'am going to send the IFO to slysoft,I just have not gotten around to it.
