why does this software not have the ability to select forced subtitles only?

Because there's no fixed way to detect them. They can be

- in their own subtitle track
- embedded in another main subtitle track relying on the 'forced' flag
- messed with where the 'forced' flag isn't properly set

It's not a 1-2-3 case.

i understand how they work!

the embedded option is the one i was after!

Since MakeMKV can do it, as well as DVDfab

That's not what I'm saying, it's irrelevant if YOU know how they work. Clonebd needs to understand/see it too. It's because of among that embedded option that's it's difficult to detect them, when it can't see them, it can't offer them to include in an mkv now can it?

I think they're working on improving they but there's no guarantee. If you must have them, and clonebd can't see them you'll have to use a different solution

What kind of conversion are you talking about?
When creating an MKV file, CloneBD lets you create an extra subtitle track with only the forced subtitles.
When creating an MKV with "permanent" subtitles, you can have CloneBD add only the forced subtitles.

uhd full disc to main movie iso

uhd full disc to main movie iso
In that case, the result should automatically enable the forced subs corresponding to the selected audio language, if no other subtitle track is selected.
Does this not work for you?
