I am still unable to copy Paris By Night 89 using the 6.1.7.2 beta version. I used CloneDVD2 and it froze at around 6% in progress.
Please help. Thank you.

1. What happens when you use Anydvd ripper? Right-click on the red fox icon on your toolbar, and select "rip video dvd to hardisk".

2. Do step 8 from here: click http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=321 (give us the Anydvd status screen for the original disc)

3. a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent program imo)

b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).

Also, if you're using Windows XP and an ide burner, please
Click this

Do what it says to do if you have XP and an ide burner/optical drive (use default ide busmaster drivers)

Very likely just a defective disc. Could you elaborate what you mean with "froze"? Can you playback the part where CloneDVD "froze"? I bet DVD player software will hang at the same spot which would indicate a manufacturing error.

Actually, I just had a thought. Check to ensure alpha-disc isn't already junking up your system. If alpha-disc is already on your system, then that may explain why Clonedvd freezes.

1. Run the uninstaller:
http://uninstall.settec.com/eng/

2. Delete the uninstaller.

3. If you know of a good program to check that you don't have alpha-disc on your system, then use it. I'm currently not aware of anything else.

4. Update to Anydvd 6.1.7.3: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7541

5. Try again

Anytime we can't all know it all so google was my friend as well as time as it is a slow everywhere tonight.

Here's what I've been told. I don't know where the original source is for this info:

People should check for a hidden file. It's called "DRM", and it installs on the hard drive when disc 1 is inserted into the DVD drive
(presumably if autorun is enabled)

Check
C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\Local Settings\Temp\DRM

And it may be in "Default User" or "All Users". Someone reported seeing something called "Block" and "Block2", which I guess should also be deleted (but I'm not sure).

Anyway, this is just another good reason to have PC-Friendly enabled constantly in Anydvd (and have Anydvd running before putting discs in your system). There are other ways to disable autorun, of course . . .

I am not sure this will help with new Settec Alpha-DVD. But you raised a good point, if your machine has been "infected", AnyDVD and CloneDVD won't work.
(Hello, People! Leave AnyDVD running *all the time*, so this cannot happen to your machine!)
Fortunately this "infection" can be removed easily. I'll look it up and will post a little regedit script to get rid of it.
I will probably add it to the AnyDVD install setup program, so if you are infected by "Paris by Night", you just need to reinstall AnyDVD and reboot.

Just tried the "Paris by Night 89" autostart, it doesn't seem to infect your PC permanently. Rebooting should be sufficient.

That's interesting. Thank you.

If that alpha-disc stuff is on your system, Clonedvd will lock up, right?

I don't know. A lot happens. Windows Explorer crashes sooner or later.

Is that the alpha-disc working properly or bad coding I wonder?
