G-Force - Disney Movie (playlist issue?)

Not sure what the problem is with this movie. I've ripped a couple of times and on playback it plays random pictures, a weird intro, etc. I've attached a log file for reference. Any help would be appreciated.

apologies for lack of details. I'm playing back the ripped Blu-ray video by streaming from a NAS to Kodi on an Nvidia Shield. All other movies work fine, except this one.

Are you playing an .m2ts file in Kodi? If yes, don't. Use CloneBD (free version is ok) and create an .mkv file for Kodi.

Yes - I play all my Blu-ray movies (over 200) from .m2ts files ripped to folder.
Are you suggesting .mkv as a work-around for this particular movie are you saying Kodi is not compatible with playing movies ripped to folder using AnyDvd HD?

Most third party software such as Kodi CAN play directly from m2ts but that doesn't mean they do it well or good. Playback is defined by more than just an m2ts file.

okay - I want to make sure I understand what's being said. The issue I'm experiencing is not necessarily a copy protection issue, but an issue associated with Kodi not reading the playlist correctly and can't be fixed by your team. Is that correct?

When you play an m2ts directly the playlist isn't involved at all. It's the playlist that specifies what file to play when, any audio delays, subtitles, audio streams etc...

When you convert to mkv you won't have that problem. It's a file container with a fixed format. Split (m2ts) files will be joined into 1 single file and should play just fine.

allright - but I see other folks posting requests for playlist "fixes" and it looks like you've provided support. Is my situation different?

I didn't provide anything, I'm just a poweruser/moderator. The other fixes you're referring to are related to screenpass protection where if a title isn't decrypted properly a random playlist is played with scrambled scenes. Their fixes involve the AnyDVD OPD that instructs AnyDVD how to properly decrypt the title, and tell the user (who may be using a 3rd party conversion tool for example makeMKV)which playlist is the right one to use for cornversion.

Completely different issue to yours. You're experiencing a playback issue in 3rd party software related to playing an m2ts file directly.

Blu-ray isn't meant to be played in 'file mode' as you're doing, but rather in disc mode. 'file mode' as you're doing isn't even going to work when a disc is authored as 'seamless branching' where a movie is split into dozens of smaller clips. In such a case you'd have to figure out which file to open when manually, that's what playlists do instead.

Correct. Use CloneBD to create an .mkv, which the Shield will like much more. It will even display the correct names for audio / subtitle streams. CloneBD is especially useful for seamless branching discs (Disney loves that), as you can see and hear which playlist is which. E.g. different languages in titles and text inserts.
General advice: Don't play .m2ts files which originate from a Blu-ray disc.
