I know I can booktype on my computer, but apparently I can't on my DVD Recorder. So I should keep using -R on my DVD Recorder instead of +R for higher compatibility right?

Yeah.......too bad it won't record in 5.1 also!
I'd love it, if my recorder did that! :)
 
Not any standalone dvd recorders, that I know of.................
My PC burner does 5.1 on the backups though. :)

I've been so spoiled by surround sound, I can hardly listen to anything else anymore.

Nope. I just have like a 42" flat panel in the living room.
 
HP burners

Hp burners automatically booktype dvd +R media to dvd-rom. which is the most compatible and movies are in rom format.
